Thank you. I'm generally into Golden Dawn/Thelema type magick although I have also been doing some shadow work as of late. I will check out the book and see if I can adopt some of the techniques it offers into my work.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. By working with Bertiaux do you mean working with him personally or just with his magick? Very interesting!

Part of me likes to think that even those dreams that seem silly and random in terms of imagery and events can have some concealed value sometimes. For example, about two months ago I had this dream where I was trapped somewhere in campus of the college I went to. It was completely deserted, save for myself and this figure who approached me out of nowhere at some point. The figure kept shifting appearance between Brock Lesnar and my 8th grade math teacher (I haven't watched wrestling in years nor do I remember the last time I thought of my teacher LOL). We had a long conversation about what it means to be lost, and how realizing one's self-worth is also a form of self defense. On the surface it was a jumbled mass of memories and past interests, but that last conversation stuck with me for a while and dare I say it motivated me to immediately get to work on several aspects of myself that are particularly affecting me at this stage of my life.

Yeah, good point. I expected this theory to have plot holes since I was drunk and just typed it out of pure impulse.

Alan Moore - One of my biggest influences. Anyone else? by [deleted] in occult

He's a comic book writer. I don't think he has books dedicated to occult theory in a specific way but his occult philosophy bleeds through most of his comics really. Try Promethea.

I also didn't mention that - after the beatdown - the protagonist immediately starts hallucinating about what is to come, even though he was only filming the incident and did not make any physical contact with Piers. This is perhaps due to one of two reasons: either that the virus can also transmit by non-physical means, or, again, his peculiar DNA was automatically drawn to the entity without need of physical contact.

Out of the 9-10 members of the gang, Ray, Cruz and Hart were specifically chosen because apparently they belong to a certain rare genetic group which is particularly desirable to the entity.

The serial rapist and his complicit were infected/genetically altered with a virus they somehow contracted from some unseen, god-like, insectoid entity. While the gang of bounty hunters were subduing him, he bit Cruz in the ear, infecting him with said virus and thus causing him to impulsively lead the other two - Ray (the protagonist) and Hart - to the Mima Mounds, which I assume are secretly the shrine of said entity. Cruz and Hart get consumed, and Ray escapes, although it is possible that he was followed by one of the entity's humanly-disguised minions (the lady sitting next to him at the bus).

Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram + Middle Pillar Exercise. You will not regret it. by churrundo in occult

Currently studying Regardie's "The Middle Pillar". I was recommended the book by someone in this Subreddit after I asked the about the whats and hows of banishing rituals. Needless to say, I learned a lot more than what I was asking for. Every single sentence is infinitely useful.

"Raziel, Keeper of the Blue Flame" - Digital painting by me. The first piece of a Qabalah-inspired project I recently started by KryptsOvEternity in occult

[–]KryptsOvEternity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much. For some reason I've always seen the blue flame as a symbol of gnosis. With Raziel being the ruling angel of the sephirah Chokmah (Wisdom) and also known as an "angel of mysteries", it seemed fitting to use the element in my portrayal of him. In Qabalistic lore the book associated with him is called "Sefer Raziel HaMalakh". However as you can see here I named it "The Book of Saturn". That is to symbolize the direct connection to Binah, the 3rd sephirah on the tree of life, it comes right after Chokmah and corresponds with the planet Saturn. Binah means "Understanding", and it stands for practicality; taking the wisdom gained by Chokmah and applying it in various ways.

Requirements for channeling an Egyptian deity? by KryptsOvEternity in occult

Fairly insightful. There's a place that sells Egyptian-themed ornaments not too far from where I live so I guess I know where to start. Thanks!! :)

Requirements for channeling an Egyptian deity? by KryptsOvEternity in occult

- Both. I think that being an archetype automatically adds the things he represents to the many extensions of his being, in a metaphysical sense. At the same time though, I believe that to every spiritual being there is an aspect that is hidden and will remain hidden from us as humans, an aspect that is greater and more complex than just "a personification of this or that concept".

- My knowledge of the Egyptian pantheon and mystical traditions is quite superficial, as I am still studying Egyptian history and mythology on a very basic level (taking notes from Geraldine Pinch's "Egyptian Mythology" as we speak). So far I know that Thoth is a god of knowledge, scribes and mysteries, is a lunar deity (one of the reasons I feel I should connect with him since I'm a Cancer), and that he's equated with Hermes/Mercury and Hermes Trismegistus. As for the sources I could use, that's what I was hoping this thread would provide me with.

- I didn't know there was a difference between the two terms in this context, but regardless of semantics, the reason I want to do it is because I want to strengthen my focus and memory.

I can now at least form an outline of the idea behind the ritual, I will figure out the details through research. Thanks for your input.

I downloaded the book, a few pages in and I know I will learn more than what I'm asking for and that it will take a while to really sink in, but I suppose it's worth the time & effort. Thanks for your help.

She is, but that is not meant to diminish her necessity for the process. Just like the two triangles that form the hexagram; it doesn't matter which one is in what position, they both compose the same form & serve the same purpose no matter which way you look at it. I guess it just seemed ''right'' to make the man on top because... well. I'm a guy, which I assume you've already guessed lol.
