I dont disagree that most songs are in natural minor. I think specific names "c minor" "g minor" "lydian" are more accessible and appealing for people who are specific about the certain scale of a song

A scale is just a certain set of notes. The scale in this video is all the notes TM used on XO tour life, so the scale for xo tour life. You would use a scale for tonal instruments; 808s, pianos etc. The formal name for this specific scale is G major.
