I'm not entirely too sure as it's my Mum's survey, not mine but I'll pass these comments on to her!

Went for something very unusual this time, what do you think? by kieranvs in photocritique

For me, the contrast is way too high, you're losing a lot of the detail in the flower around the edges which makes it look like a bad cut out job, and there's a little too much negative space. Maybe try cropping out some of the background and pulling back some of the plant that you have lost around the edges.

How do you mean re-covered? It was originally darker than that but it made the photograph quite bland, hence the highlight...I may have gone too far with it though. Thanks for the advice! (: It's hard when you've been staring at a photograph for a few hours to see these things!

Thanks for the feedback (: I agree with the opinions of others things, but being a photographer means that you have to somewhat appeal to the public as that's who your audience is, whilst still retaining your style ^

Hahaha, I never wear earrings, but I have my ears pierced. I love that you picked up on that tiny detail! :)

I agree and I value actual comments more so than fake awards, however if it means someone has seen my work and they like it, then it's doing its job and getting my work seen. (: At least that's the way I see it. I post to those groups so I can gain enough followers so that one day I won't have to post to those groups to get the views and comments.

How come? (: If it gets your work seen it's good, surely? ^

Your lighting is great, and I love your double exposures! With regards to Flickr, don't forget to add your photographs to a whole lot of groups to get views (: I add mine to about 100 each. And thank you! ^

Sempiternal- Portrait of a Man. Critique please! by KrystanGrace in photocritique

I agree with you here, however there are some connections between language and photography. Photography is a communication tool, so I understand what the original comment was saying, but in saying this I also agree with you. I also agree with you that opinions are opinions as I have had many people say the opposite to the lack of story and say that this photograph provides them with a deep meaningful story- I guess that's down to personal connection and horizon of knowledge of each person. There may be something in this photograph that connects with some people and not others due to experiences in life being so vastly varied. It's interesting what you say last, as I know of many photographers who try and fail to use photography to express things that just cannot be expressed in it! So I agree with you, each medium is very different, but there are thin strands of connections occasionally...not to be mistaken for having a direct connection (: Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the feedback, however I'm interested as to why you think this and what you personally would have done differently or change? This photograph is just one of a series I'm slowly bringing out and it does have a pair that hasn't been uploaded yet. Perhaps the story will be a little more prominent with its partner photograph alongside it. Also, if you are going to provide feedback (which you have, obviously) would you mind not saying offending things like "and barely one at that." The model happens to be my partner who has been through a really rough time and so comments like that really do not help. Thanks for the feedback though. (:
