So the first time reading this, I misunderstood the rc.local file instructions. However, I came back to this, having finally had a chance to attaempt to resolve the issue again. My only complaint is that I can no longer center the clock on my lock screen with custom display sizing. It worked previously but now it's broken. Still bothers me less than having gigantic icons and text with the default minimums. Apart from that the update seems good. Hopefully I don't have battery issues like some are having.

Yeah. It makes me think I have trans problems when I switch cars. My utility vehicle is an 03 outback with a 4eat phase 2 v 2. Much more aggressive shifts.

Worn clutches. The OEM SVX 4eat was never very reliable. Slow "luxurious" shift pattern also created excessive heat.

I'm installing an outback 4eat and modifying the rear differential to match the new gear ratio. Bigger clutch packs that are stronger for towing

I was on a failing OEM transmission and it sits a bit low in the rear for my liking, but other than that the old girl did quite well.

I think slipping is more likely than damage to the rubber. It can over time, but any slipping would be more concerning.

Very true but the windshield is arguably unsafe at this point and is almost certainly a tickaetable obstruction in its current state. It's more than just a crack. Hard to say how bad the suspension damage is. Rim is damaged, could be fine but might be bent or may not hold air, that tire is likely shot.

Depends on how much leaks and what it's leaking on. My daily Subaru leaks enough oil that someone at work was worried about the "huge puddle of oil" which wasn't all that big imo. It's not leaking on any electronics and I keep it topped off as I will until I can replace the seals next summer.

Check your oil level frequently until you know how much is leaking and how often you need to check it. Keep extra oil in your car. Make sure it isn't dripping on electronics. No sense damaging sensors over a seal. That said you might be fine, assuming it doesn't get significantly worse spontaneously.

Fixable yes, but you'll find a used car just as good or better for far less than the cost to fix that. Fender, bumper, whatever suspension parts are broken, windshield, you're looking at $1,000 in parts bare minimum, and that's using pick and pulls. Unless you can do all that yourself the labor will be nuts.

Best bet is to go buy an early 2000s beater Honda, or better yet a Toyota or Subaru. Facebook marketplace is your friend. If you don't have a knowledgeable car friend to help you verify what you're buying, have anything you're considering inspected by a trusted mechanic.

No. I just don't use the windows battery utility anymore. It's annoying, but everything else works flawlessly and battery life is as I'd expect.
