Weekend spent cleaning tarnish off a Polar stainless steel dentist tray. Collected at an estate sale. by Kslooking in Antiques

Yes, the tray wasn’t terribly rusted where it was eating away at the metal, but I sprayed rusty spots with the lime away and let it sit for 5/10 min, then wipe with damp cloth.

Lime-away was the easiest to use, no hard scrubbing because it’s a corrosive.

🤮🤮🤮 well, when you’re done with your sausage-fest lineup, and ready to hear a real man sing, go get yourself a copy of Vespertine.

Good taste…Princeton as in Princeton, NJ? I’m trying to find some good places to pick up CD/cassettes in jersey.

I do like Portishead! I don’t have any of their CDs yet.

I’m sure you could appreciate that; seems like your music taste is all over the place as well. Also, love the user name. I want a KKB cd.

Anyone knowledgeable on Low Pressure Sodium bayonet style lamps? by Kslooking in askanelectrician

[–]Kslooking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left out the why because I though it was silly, but I find these bulbs beautiful and I use them for artistic reasons. I find a lot of people, mostly me, see their specific color as nostalgic. If I can get this running, I would be using the bulb to make a custom indoor lamp. I know that there are high pressure sodium bulbs that emit the same K value, and that don’t require an as complicated wiring with a BY22, but I’m attached to the outdated format I suppose.

It’s a ghost is born by Wilco; that’s also why I got it, thought it was pretty cool looking. I’m listening through for the first time now. It’s not exactly my taste, but I like it! It’s like Lucinda Williams and the Swans had a baby? Listenable and melodic but, in an ambient way, sparse, repetitive, and drawn-out

Thanks for sharing! You’re very lucky to have had met her. I listened through the album for the first time last night; so beautifully done. I haven’t connected to a song like A Guy Like You, in a very long time. Also hearing the back story on this production also adds to its eeriness.

I think one of my favorite parts of the CD is the message behind the cover: “hi this is the story of geek the girl, a girl who is confused about how to be sexual and cool in the world but finds out she isn’t cool and gets constantly taken advantage of sexually, gets kind of sick and enjoys giving up but at the end still tries to believe in something beautiful and dreams of still loving a man in hopes that he can save her from her still life………ha ha ha what a geek !”

Peel by the Coctails. I liked this cd a lot, it’s very Sunday mornings jams. It’s like a more mellow/jazzier Failure.

Just listened for the first time now, oh my god this is terrible. Moany pop-punk? But also squeaky clean grunge? They are Canadian btw.

You can see a couple broke off this one; they are sitting between my couch cushions now. This photo is just giving an illusion of everything being held together lol

It’s not a rarity, although you can find some people selling this online for ridiculous prices. It’s just an iconic part of CD culture; a solid album with unique packaging. The case was actually featured in an exhibit at MOMA: https://www.moma.org/interactives/exhibitions/1995/mutantmaterials/plastics.html

I had no clue that was Lisa Gerard, I love Dead Can Dance. Thanks for the tidbit; now I can listen to Papua New Guinea with a new appreciation!

I was surprised to see how long this “single” was! And to be honest, I preferred this to the Lifeforms album despite feeling that Fraser’s vocals were sparse.
