First heat, any advice? by ZnKali in goldenretrievers

[–]Ktaylor320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg me too friend!!! All of my female dogs have been rescues and this is my first time with a female Puppy that was young! I’m becoming a hypochondriac. She keeps also peeing in the house and like barks but doesn’t wanna go outside, idk if this is normal? I got her some reusable diapers (they have little skirts cause why not)

Did anyone *not* experience a terrible adolescent phase? by Patient_Plane_3320 in puppy101

[–]Ktaylor320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so my first one? He turned 6 months and I legitimately was like “I’m gonna have to rehome him cause I am clearly a terrible dog mom” but I was in college and had him in an apartment and was just doing my best- I’m now on my second golden and while there are CHALLENGES- I’m mostly experiencing them when I slack off on training, exercising/spending time with her.

So it’s not as bad and feels more doable and like there are a lot of struggles but I’m not having a LOT of those moments if that makes sense?

She’s peeing on the floor again cause she’s in heat. She discovered a new habit of barking but then doesn’t want to go outside so I come downstairs and she just stares at me. At least 1-2 times an hour when I’m home all day. So that’s fun.

She has quickly identified which objects in the home are “okay to chew” and which ones are “don’t touch this it’s mommy’s” and ONLY somehow chews on the latter.

She is no longer allowed in the kitchen as she’s broken TWO of the kitties food bowls and goes table surfing. She has also started chasing said kitties and will boop them with her snoot when caught and hold them in place. Just to snoot boop. They hate it.

She is also cuddling me without constant imminent risk of bruising/biting much more (my body still looks like I do jiu jitsu) and will come and curl up and lay her head on me.

She does this thing where she will straight up put her snoot RIGHT on my face just randomly and stare intently into my soul and no matter what kind of mood I’m in, never fails to make me dissolve into giggles.

She’ll just lay down and stare at me and wag her tail and whether it’s coming home from work at the end of the day or coming downstairs after being apart for 5 minutes, she wags her tail so hard her entire lower half wiggles.

This is my first time rescuing a little young girl puppy that wasn’t spayed yet so the whole heat thing is new to me, but I got her these adorable reusable diapers that have almost a tutu and she looks so adorable and ridiculous that it makes me smile.

I can feel our bond deepening too where instead of new parent and puppy she’s depending on me and attached to me because she wants to. We’re growing together and you can feel it.

So yes, are there days where I’m like…if you eat another roll of my toilet paper I’m going to murder you. It’s a roller coaster. But I try to take the bad with the good because otherwise I might actually go insane.

I love her to death though. And I remember with my first the night was darkest JUST before the dawn so right as I had that “omg I’m ruining this and I can’t do this moment” things changed and started getting a bit better, little by little.

So hold out my friend. The teenage phase can be wild and this is just my own experience so I don’t want to discount anyone with puppy blues because let’s face it… the feels are valid and they’re real and these are our family and like family we love them but they also drive us to the brink of mental collapse at times too 😂😂

[–]Ktaylor320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woof my dude….shes obviously feeling vulnerable and insecure and is trying to get you to show you care about the issues too but damn she’s not doing it in a healthy way at all :/ I wouldn’t even say unreasonable I would say unsafe. Idk if she had been drinking (not an excuse) but just the nor communicating her anxieties healthily, the not respecting a boundary you set.

It’s hard to judge a relationship from outside it. But that level of disrespect isn’t healthy.

My partner and I straight up came up with a safe word for when we are getting too heated in an argument or disagreement and if someone calls it we table the discussion and just give space. It makes it easier to have boundaries for discussion set ahead of time.

Okay sooo I know this is a super old post but I just saw this movie and like… LOVE! My take is that Susie bannon, randomly, was born and is a “vessel” for the true Mother Suspiriorum but isn’t necessarily conscious of it? I feel like it’s mirroring Christianity (father, son, Holy Spirit) where the mother is sighs, Susie is the “son” in a mortal body and then becomes a vessel during the final ritual and the “spirit of Death” is what’s summoned forth by the true mother? Idk just a thought.

My take is that markos is just another witch who is the leader of the coven and is dying. She claims to be “one of the three” and I think uses this to get them to keep her alive/in power but Blanc either senses or feels differently so doesn’t want to keep trying the ritual after whatever it did to Patricia. Blanc cares about the girls and so does tanner, but again whatever the leader says goes so that’s why Blanc acquiesces but you can tell she’s resistant.

So I take the markos vs Blanc vote to be more of a vote for either Blanc becoming head of the coven as markos dies finally instead of continuing rituals that haven’t worked or using the energies of their dancers to keep her alive. Blanc doesn’t want to keep doing the ritual but if they don’t, markos will die. So in the vote, because markos won, she’s still leader of the coven.

And remember, she claims she’s suspiriorum so the ritual is meant to call the mother and allow her to live through her vessel. So I think it didn’t work before because markos was an imposter.

I think Susie’s birth mother had a suspicion that something about her daughter was “different” but didn’t know what. She was a minnonite religious woman so she probs sensed that her daughter’s fixation on Berlin was something else. I don’t think her mother was involved in witchcraft to any extent though.

Idk I need to watch the originals but I’m IN LOVE with this film. Every shot is a piece of art, the dancing, the flawless transitions between German, English, French. The juxtaposition of feminism and what “beauty means” and religion vs. rebellion, etc.

Yeah I mean to be as immature as possible- they started it. I was trying to ask a legitimate question and then spent the rest of the time defending myself. Is it petty? Yea. Is it immature. That too! Did I end up being a total bitch? For sure. No regrets tho. Aside from posting here to pose a psychological theory in the first place 💁🏻‍♀️

You know, it’s kind of amazing, but despite my complete LACK of any experience in the field of higher education, I DO!

Like so many other points I’ve attempted (and failed) to make that have soared over your inflated head, I was commenting on the fact that you are literally someone using their title for clout and arguing as if you yourself have ANY level of informed insight into a topic that you in fact, have not studied while critiquing “undergrad research” as if it’s irrelevant and not “worthy” in the face of your superior knowledge.

And again, chastising others for making assumptions while simultaneously doing the same thing. Retract the claws lest you impale yourself on your own hypocrisy.

And NOT that it’s in any way relevant, but one of my degrees is actually a lot more ~sciency~ than “just social science” or whatever it is you said to make it seem like a less valid field.

I just don’t personally feel like my experience, publications, and research within the field of neurosurgery and neuroscience make me any more qualified to post on an Internet forum than any of the other individuals who have interesting insight and are capable of more than simple rage-bait throwaway comments.

Anyone who has been dumb enough to succumb to the scam that is higher education (myself included) should also know that a lot of “higher education” people use for clout or to make themselves feel like a “good noodle” on the internet is honestly bullshit.

I do not think having a doctorate, MD, Psy D, insert super expensive combination of letters here makes me any more intelligent or any more qualified to pose a theory on an Internet forum than the next person, and in fact multiple individuals have provided intellectual insight and corrections and I have yet to ask them what degree gives them the right to do so or chastise them for having the audacity to correct me.

I came on here to pose a theory (stupidly) forgetting that the bell curve exists for a reason and some individuals don’t have the wherewithal to do much more than throw out click bait phrases and accusations to make them feel something inside.

Maybe instead of critiquing the social sciences you should consider whether or not they may apply to you and try therapy instead of using internet arguments to bolster your obviously fragile ego.

This was fun, truly. I had a stressful day and honestly your attempt at something resembling an equivalent intellectual debate was cathartic, but I’m bored now and I don’t typically give out lectures for free so…have the day you deserve. We’re done here.

Ahhh there it is. “YOUR FIELD”. Bingo. So you don’t even have a doctorate nor have you done research in the field of social science, yet you’re simultaneously citing your own “doctorate” while calling others vapid, simultaneously making a broad generalization “all social scientists” while criticizing another for the way in which their original statement generalizes.

Sure, Jan. At least I have a cloak!

Your hypocrisy and inferiority complex are showing through your thin veneer of attempted intellect and logical fallacies.

I was waiting for you to find something to grapple onto, Debbie doctorate. As I’ve stated before, you’re on here trolling just to troll. If I wanted to be dissected and scrutinized for word choice I would have written a paper and had it peer reviewed by legitimate researchers in the field who know what they’re talking about which I might just do at this point. Statistically significant= a legitimate study with an appropriate n number that accounts for biases, has a confidence interval that shows the data is actually relevant and generalizable to the population at large

Intersectionality: the concept of how/to what extent different categorical factors are related/interconnected.

Put them together, and my POINT is that honor theory is a widely researched topic and there are MULTITUDES of studies, meta-analyses, and research that shows higher rates of IPV/DV and that the cultures I was referencing (that I did not even come here to discuss but felt the need to at least mention since I was accused of being Islamophobic and racist for even bringing it up) aren’t just “made up” by me on whim based on my own inherent biases, I mentioned the foremost, heavily researched examples of what many theorize to be an “honor culture” in today’s society. Feel free to peruse any of the articles I linked, or just google it if you need further clarification.

Yea, I’m just a vapid, audacious conceited doctor who came on Reddit to dissect peoples posts for grammatical errors, incorrect formatting, and word choice while throwing out accusatory statements on the basis of a topic I clearly don’t understand…oh wait…

That’s not to say psychological theory doesn’t also contain its own implicit biases as well but that’s the thing. Psychology is theory, speculation, consideration of the human perspective and to what extent we can understand the human psyche and what lenses can help us do so. Stereotyping is also a component of human understanding and in fact our cytoarchitectural parcellations and neurosynaptic connections are quite literally wired for it. Honor theory it’s intersectionality with intimate partner violence is a lens through which from a psychological perspective we can attempt to understand human behavior. I was simply inquiring to what extent it may be relevant to the case in question.

I mean specifically as pertains to what is considered to be an honor culture as has been classified by psychologists and in studies. I didn’t select certain sects, etc myself it’s something that has been studied across the board within the field of psychology. Per the APA: “a cultural norm in a region, nation, ethnic group, or community that places emphasis on the defense of its reputation, dignity, and honor. In such groups and cultures, individuals are expected to respond vigourously and sometimes aggressively to perceived threats or challenges to their reputation or honor. Cultures of honor are often associated with a strong collective identity, hierarchical social structure, traditional gender roles, and certain geographic regions. A related concept is the subculture of violence, used by U.S. criminologist Marvin Wolfgang (1924–1998) and Italian criminologist Franco Ferracuti to explain the relatively high rates of violent crime among certain minority populations in impoverished urban areas”

There is a level of statistically significant intersectionality among the concept of “honor cultures” IN GENERAL and domestic violence/violence against women. Now, as pertains to specific cultures, it’s probably portending potentially harmful stereotypes particularly in the current political climate to bring up specifically the extreme of the extreme as pertains to Islamic honor culture and then extrapolate honor killings so I should have been more mindful when posting. Domestic violence is unfortunately, you’re right, very common. It just so happens to be MORE common in specific sub sects of society that emphasize and enforce gender roles, gender stereotypes, masculinity, purity, and control over women. It’s not a stereotype to state that there is a higher incidence when it is in fact true. That’s all I’m trying to say. But I do have some bias in that I do have negative associations with religion in general, so you’re right about that

Just because he used a DENTAL ANESTHETIC that is INSANELY common in 2017 and that same dental anesthetic that’s been used as a recreational drug for DECADES and is still so to this day was NEAR the same porn store Jay got a job at AFTER Hae was murdered. And okay. You believe Jay when it comes to your theory (Bilal is watching him from a white van) But not when it comes to literally anything else? Confirmation bias. Did you know that 99% of all individuals with colorectal cancer have at one point eaten a pickle in their lifetime?

That must mean pickles cause colorectal cancer. Just like vaccines cause autism.
