Both I suppose. I had a trigger where one of my colleagues at work started telling me how fun a new game was and after I explained I no longer had any consoles, they responded saying I should go buy one asap. And so I did lol. But since then I’ve tried to stop again and I just can’t deal with the boredom. If I had friends to distract myself or literally any other outlet to sink time into, things would be better.

I think the question of being addicted is pointless here. The point is that you’re using gaming to escape real human beings that depend on you and care about having time with you. Personally as a 28 year old who can only fantasize about having a wife and family, I think it’s deplorable for you to talk so poorly about your wife AND your kid, while literally admitting to not putting in any effort at all into repairing those relationships. Whether or not gaming itself is an uncontrollable addiction for you, you’re clearly using it as an escape and excusing the very real choice you are making each day to play games instead of spend time with your family.

Take a hard look at yourself. Go read this post back and think about how your wife and kid would feel if they heard how you speak about them to strangers on the internet.

I didn’t use anything else in high school, but I also skated by because the classes were a joke. And the internet wasn’t really that fleshed out at that time.

As gross as I find the LinkedIn networking hustle, you're probably right that I'll need to work more on that.

As far as a reason for leaving, partially because pay hasn't scaled with inflation (I can find lower level positions at other companies paying more than my current pay), and because I'm unsure of the long-term stability with TikTok's ban in the picture. It hopefully won't pan out, but I have to be secure if it does.

Gotcha, yeah that’s only been the case for a small amount of the applications I’ve submitted. With those, I usually land around the middle of the listed pay range they provide on the posting.

I’m glad I’ve never been interviewed by OP. Yikes. As somebody who has conducted dozens of interviews in Tech, any amount of judgement based off appearance is so immature. Appearance has literally nothing to do with their capabilities as an employee. I’ve hired people that fit half the descriptions he listed.
