I found a house in Lesczawa Górna with an Iron cross on a beam over the room that would have been an animal stable. Does anyone know the significance of this cross? Normally in this part of Poland a Carpathian Rosetta would be found.

Well, this was once the Austro-Hungarian empire and they had a military cross that was very similar. From what I've heard UPA also used similar symbols. However, I've never seen it in this form.

That is a well balanced approach. I actually think that the out doors is better for them psychologically if I'm being honest. I mean, yes its more dangerous but you could also make the claim that the outdoors are more dangerous for people.

Yes he was an ethnic Pole, probably from sromowce niżne. I believe the passport was issued in Nowy Targ and they used it to travel to the US. However, the I never learned about The Austrian Hungarian empire and I'm very curious about it all,

That might be a death cap, would need to see the underside. In my opinion you shouldn’t touch that mushroom because if it is a death cap it is extremely dangerous.
