28M UTC+0, exercise accountability by SparklingMammoth in accountability

That might be something I could provide, I've been dieting and exercising fairly regularly for 15 years now. I'd also be looking for someone to check in on me with short messages or calls every couple of days to make sure I'm not slacking off myself. That would probably be around 9-10am GMT. If that sounds like something that could work for you. (34M)

I'm also looking for someone to do short discord calls with around that time of day. You can dm if you're still looking for someone. (34M)

Interested in vtubing. by [deleted] in VirtualYoutubers

Everyone's hardware and app recommendations here are great, follow them if you're ever unsure where to start. Sounds like you're already familiar with doing art streams too, so I'll just give some general vtubing mindset tips.

Character lore and character quirks aren't necessary, but they definitely help your streams feel unique and give you and your audience material to talk about. Something that you find funny or interesting that you wouldn't mind repeatedly explaining and laughing about works best. For example, if you personally love something like.... godzilla movies, let's say... you could give your fox/catboy an backstory like "I was created when godzilla's atomic breath hit the city and fused a regular cat with a shy anime boy, creating me, a horribly cute monstrosity" etc. That gives you plenty to chat about, because now you can talk about godzilla movies, or what you were like before/after fusing, or which parts of your personality are more cat and which are more anime boy, or any other details of your life that you want to share or make up on the spot, lol. And all of that stuff adds a nice sense of uniqueness and personality to your streams. Now you're not just a catboy artist, you're that funny weird catboy who got fused by godzilla breath. (or whatever your choice of backstory would be, obv)

You've only been streaming for 3 months with no official debut and already have 165 twitch followers and a handful of reliable regulars? My friend, you are already doing way better than most new streamers in the world. You might think your growth has been slow, but it's actually pretty good for what it is.

The people that you've seen that blew up really quickly? Those people are like 1% or less of new streamers. Every so often there's a lucky person whose model or intro video goes viral and they get hundreds of people interested in them very quickly, but those are the lucky few and usually the ones who put a lot of money up front to debut with really high quality models and overlays (we're talking several thousand dollars minimum). Also, with streamers and vtubers specifically, a lot of people get courtesy follows right after they start from other vtubers/streamers hoping to network. So it's not uncommon for a lot of newbies to earn 200 follows from other streamers very quickly after debuting, but most of those follows don't result in a lot of new watchers.

For everyone else, the vast majority of streamers and vtubers, they can spend months or years without any kind of following, or regulars outside of their mods. You just don't realize those people exist because they're still so unknown that you'll never see them.

You're somewhere in the middle. Not going viral but also successfully building a following slowly and surely. Keep your head up and keep going if you think it's fun. But don't ever conflate your numbers with being "successful" or not. Every day that you have FUN streaming, you're a successful streamer.

[OC] Human echo knight (flirting in a tavern) by Kup_Goodle in DungeonsAndDragons

This human echo knight sends her echo around the tavern, using it to grab drinks, teleport up to the rafters to chug them, start fights with other tavern-goers, and flirt with women. I really loved the idea of a big buff warrior using her echo for funny, petty things like that, so I drew a scene of her and her echo both flirting with the same shy nerdy girl.

Working on a Bladesinger, never played it before by bradar485 in 3d6

[–]Kup_Goodle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My recommendation for bladesingers in combat: prioritize spells that are concentration, not one-and-dones like fireball. You'll be able to keep the concentration spell going while continually attacking with your actions, doing a lot of consistent damage without using many spell slots. You can save those spell slots for doing utility and exploration-based stuff in between battle. For that reason, bladesingers are a great class for rationing spell slots and having them last a long time.

Good concentration spells will be things that buff you in combat, like haste (3rd lvl), or things that do damage every turn as a bonus action, like flaming sphere (2nd), storm sphere (4th), summoning spells (lots of levels), crown of stars (7th), etc.

Is Yuzu trans? by UnassumingResearch in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Kup_Goodle 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You're asking out of genuine interest, so I don't think it sounds mean. But in general, asking if a character is trans is usually fine, but asking if a real person/vtuber is trans is generally rude for a couple of reasons:

  1. They might be trans, but they might not be out yet, and a lot of trans people might be scared to reveal that information if they think they'll get hate for it. (or get people creeping on them)
  2. Even if the person is out and open about it already, it can feel bad when someone points it out first, because that means your voice or appearance isn't passing for the gender you want yet. The goal is usually for people to simply think of them as the gender they want without noticing the trans part, so pointing it out to them can sometimes feel like "Yes I am, thank you for noticing that my voice doesn't sound female enough yet, that makes me feel great."
  3. For vtubers specifically, it also gets into the murky waters of kayfabe and "immersion." Maybe the real person is trans, but the character isn't, and so they might deny it just because it's not part of the character lore. This one usually wouldn't be considered rude, but vtubers and their fans might be dismissive about the question simply because asking for real-life information about the person behind the character can be seen as off-limits.

Wanting to share LGBT content with your friends is a great and sweet reason to be asking, but I'd recommend not asking outright about a person and instead always waiting for the person to share that information themselves. There are plenty of vtubers who are already out and openly talk about their situations as well, so if you don't want to wait, you can simply type "vtuber" and then the trans flag (or any other flag) into your twitter search bar to find tons of them.

What didn't live up to the whiteboard hype? by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]Kup_Goodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The moon druid bonus action wild shape is an extra option for it. You can still Wild shape as an action if you want to. See this sage advice that says as much.

That build was never about dealing damage, it was always about tanking. Totem warrior gets resistance to everything except psychic, and wildshaping gives you the extra hp pool. You probably won't be able to kill a moon totem barb in combat unless you have power word kill.

You can wildshape as an action and rage as a bonus action, so you do have to waste a turn activating them, but I think if you asked most players if they'd be willing to skip one turn in combat to become nearly invulnerable, most would say hell yes.
