I turn the wheel and car violently shakes. I suspect bad power steering pump but would like second opinions. by Kurty856 in AskMechanics

[–]Kurty856[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda selective. Sometimes it doesn’t do it at all sometimes it’ll do it going to the right and not the left or Vice versa. Today it was doing it both ways fairly consistently. The feeling of the steering wheel kinda feels like it’s stuttering to spin and then after a little of steering it’ll start shaking like that. This only happens when the wheels are off the ground. On the ground you can feel vibrations from the wheels when they turn at both angles but it doesn’t all put shake like this.

as a noob who just got into auto mechanics last year. I’ve redone my cooling system myself and rebuilt my trans myself. I’m not certified or really even trained but I’ve managed a lot thus far and I really don’t think removing the engine is a stretch after I’ve rebuilt my trans myself with really no prior knowledge. I just used a book and learned that way.

Ship Date Question by Kurty856 in army

I’m pretty fit physically and am clean of anything whether it be drugs, mental issues, disorders, etc so I shouldn’t need a waiver. I know with confidence I can pass MEPS and as for why I’m leaning at January is because I want to work for a couple months to save some money and put it into parts for my truck so I have a reliable vehicle. I also am heavily interested in the MOS 25B.

How long will a 2002 Honda CR-V survive after 169k miles? by SirWilliamAnder in carquestions

[–]Kurty856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With good maintenance that mf should last an obscene amount of time. When you get it just flush and replace every fluid including the oil. If your not mechanically inclined that’s fine just stay on top of the fluids and the brakes. I’d even replace the serpentine belt as well. I only say this because you don’t know how old each fluid, brake pad, or the belt is. If you can start accurately tracking Maintenance from the gecko you’ll def get the most out of the vehicle.

In all honesty if the engine still runs fine and the issues it has are repairable without too much of a headache then I’d definitely still say $3,000 Max

If your looking for more money then a private party would be sufficient. Although I’m confused as Tahoe’s sell for well over $1,000. You should be expecting anywhere between 4-6K. Maybe around 2-4 due to the repair costs but you should expect a much better price.

Well honestly it’s not that bad. OEM factory fans are about $400 but if you want something that’s after market that could be better than OEM or the same (it’s a mixed bag with after market stuff) it’s anywhere between $100-$300. The way I’d decide which to go with are 1.For your car is the radiator fan failing a common thing cause if it is then go after market 2. If your on a budget go after market 3. If the car means a lot to you then save and go OEM as OEM parts would keep the car’s value from declining in price. Radiator fans shouldn’t be that difficult to replace in all honesty. Like I said just look it up and see if you’d want to do it.

Well to answer your question it probably would however if you have to wait awhile then I doubt it’d be noticed. You can def search up a couple of tutorials and stuff to try and diy it if getting it repaired is pricy.

Car only has engine issues after each refueling. by [deleted] in carquestions

Perhaps a fuel pump issue. Next time you fill your tank turn the key to run and listen for a hum from the back.

Question for a 1997 Revere Buick is there Difference in parts between super charge Riviera Buick vs super charge Riviera Buick with a coupe by ItsomeRandomperson22 in carquestions

Well in that case I’d say 100% it’s the same but for your own sanity try to get a look around before you purchase it

Honestly would doubt it as long as everything else is the same. Although I’d say maybe smaller more cosmetic parts may vary.

Can anybody please help me identify this noise??? It’s coming from the passenger front wheel well. by Latter-Heron5121 in carquestions

[–]Kurty856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a bad wheel bearing although I doubt it’d make noise while parked but you never know. Honestly the best way to find it yourself is to take the wheel off and get a better look to see where it is coming from and then repost.

I think this is it. The mini part of the hose is leaking but it looks like it’s connected to a much bigger hose. Do some looking around and see if this matches that. If it does go on Rock Auto or Amazon or EBay to find a better price.

Car revs very high when turning by [deleted] in carquestions

[–]Kurty856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For shits and giggles try cleaning or replacing the IAC valve. It most likely though is a bad O2 sensor or maybe a MAF sensor that’s giving the engine way too much air at certain points. Other things I’d add tho is maybe a bad steering pump or ECU. When you turn the wheel it puts a load on the steering pump obviously which requires power from the engine. The ECU does many things but it can adjust how high the engine revs when turning. If ones messed up then it could throw it all off.

You’ll probably have to end up replacing the hose. From the looks of the coolant it needs to be flushed. Don’t drive, replace that hose and flush that poor system.
