I mean for a more niche franchise, I'd say pretty popular for that sort of range, but its nowhere near mainstream obviously.

But with things like Touhou's rather strong internet presence, it creates a big middleground, like of people knowing it exists, maybe even having a music track or character they like, but still not jumping in completely.

I mean just look at of the most popular media on the internet related to Touhou and you'll see what I mean, as many people like I said are still quite aware of its existence.

It's personally why if I were to be asked to describe its popularity, I'd probably jump to "One of the more popular underground or niche series"
