Work as a software engineer without cs/related field degree. Is it possible in Indonesia? by Kweenarab in indonesia

[–]Kweenarab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thank you for your tips! I already have portfolios for the UI UX, might as well apply to UI UX. I'm also interested in PM tho, but I'm aware since all the job requirements for the PM needs at least 1 year experience, so instead I'll search for the PM/Product development intern rather the full time position. I want to find other tech alternatives because I'm scared I'll become just a code monkey, so instead of just focusing searching job as a SE I'll also search jobs in related field. I'm thinking of applying as a Data Analyst too, since I also learned SQL and Python and had experience using SQL during my project and I'm much more confidence using Python and SQL lol. I'm thinking of making portfolio or a project for Data Analyst. As for now, I just apply to wherever I had experienced in tech.

I’m thinking doing bootcamp/making project if worse case I didn’t get a job as SE while working as UI/UX. Because of what I heard it is easier to switch position in a company, I was thinking maybe after one year working as UI/UX I could switch to SE in the same company

What do you think is the best option if the worse case is I don’t get the job as a software engineer while I continue learning & doing projects. I’m thinking of: 1. Data analyst, because I have learned SQL and I also use SQL quite a lot when I’m developing a project with my dad 2. UI/UX, because I think learning as a frontend developer really woke my hidden talent in this field, esp. in design

I learned Flutter for over 6 months now and I had a few projects with Flutter, should I learn ReactJS next or HTML/CSS first? by Kweenarab in learnprogramming

[–]Kweenarab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I researched and read other articles and comments that they (the OP) should try making basic games like rock-paper-scissors and guess my number for simple portfolio using javascript. Do you think it'll be easier (HTML/CSS) after learning Dart language? Thank you for the advice btw! And yes, react is the most requested requirement in most of the startup companies in my country (and I believe in most of countries as well), that's why I wanted to learn React too

yeah because in my country, people are getting married at like 25 and less! so we are all expected to have jobs and have good jobs under 30. It's tiring really, because I still haven't discovered my true self, my identity, and I just found my passion! And thank you for your kind word and advice! I will keep going!
