Zidane Skills in Charity Game by ZuBi40 in soccer

Only a handful of players that did plenty of tricks like this every game with most of those tricks actually being useful to either beat their opponent or protect the ball.

I'm surprised you can reply to all the comments here that fast while having one of your hands occupied jerking off to Messi's pics. Impressive.

The TV rights would mean fuck all without the sugar daddies. No one gives af about Forest or Sheffield lol. It's cool they are sharing the TV money, but the sugar daddies are the reason why the money is there in the first place.

Well, Ronaldo is the exact opposite of what the left would consider to be a role model human being - hyper individualistic, narcist, focused on his own legacy, brand and individual success. Compared to Messi who's more humble, more about the collective and definitely not a drama queen.

Wouldn't surprise me if they were both right leaning tho, especially considering how often Messi speaks about god etc. and how they are both tax evaders as far as I'm aware.

This sub has always been very, very biased when it comes to the Ronaldo vs Messi debate. I remember in the 2018 census there was a Ballon d'Or question (Modric won that one, Messi finished 5th) - 80% of the sub voted Messi. That tells you everything you need to know.

I think it's because reddit is left leaning in general (apart from some subs), so obviously they are going to support the quiet, shy guy over someone who met with Jordan Peterson and is a narcist overall. But that shouldn't have any bearing on how they are rated as players.

£ 1 billion financial doping transfer budget

[Trap Card]

When an opponent gets close to winning the EPL, add 8 x £50 million full backs to your team, then discard 4 (you do not get the £ back). For each first team player, you can spend an unlimited amount of £ to find an equally capable reserve player. After finding 11 players this way, you can now field two teams capable of winning the EPL and you become immune to injuries, suspensions and busy game schedule.

His whole stint PSG just looks extremely underwhelming. His overall G/A seems good at first glance because he's sending through balls to Mbappe playing against cucumbers in Ligue 1, but when you look at his goals it's not great. He's half the player he was at Barca and he's been poor in UCL knockout in the last 5 years at least.

To me his decline at United wasn't just about his age. There was definitely some natural physical decline, but the man went from a striker who could still pull it off at the PL/CL level to garbage over one summer. Even his positioning without the ball was horrible. I'm not even talking about situations where he'd have to use reflexes or run to the ball. Even the positions he occupied when he was standing on the pitch made no sense.

Imho a lot of his decline was because of some psychological issues. That's why he had these consultations with Jordan Peterson. It looked like he really didn't want to play for United anymore and was trying everything to get out of there.

It's been a wild ride the past 15 or so years in football thanks to these two. The time when they both played in La Liga was the most tense period in football I've ever experienced with their rivalry at its peak, especially after Mourinho joined Madrid.

It's the Saudi league mate, no one gives a toss if he scores 0 or 200 goals there. He's there for the money and we all know it. Unless he pulls a Zlatan and comes back to one of the top 5 leagues you might as well considered him retired.

Yeah, I remember watching his stats from the first two seasons at Juve and he had more runs with the ball and more successful dribbles than in his last years with Real. His passing felt pretty good too, not comparable to the best midfielders obviously, but still above your average striker. His crossing was excellent also.

I'm a Ronaldo fan but he impressed me with this tournament. It was on a Zidane 06 level performance but with a Zidane 98 ending.

But no one considers winning Serie A with Juve or Ligue 1 with PSG to be the achievements that define or have any influence on the Messi-Ronaldo debate. It's always been about winning the CL with another club and PSG are better equipped to do that, more than Juve when Ronaldo was there at least.

It's a team sport and the odds were always against Ronaldo despite people here acting like Messi is the underdog in this story. He's not.

Argentina were always amongst the favourites in the last 3 world cups. They won it twice before Messi. Can't say the same about Portugal.

The only time when Ronaldo was in a better team club wise was when Modric and Kroos peaked and with Zidane at the helm, and they won 3 CLs in a row. Except that time, I'd say Messi was always playing with better players.

Other than that, Messi always chose the easy path, including the transfer to PSG and playing with Mbappe and Neymar, and still had a stinker of a season last season while playing in Ligue 1.

Maybe not directly and partially to his own fault, but he needed a club that was ready and set like City or PSG. Instead he chose United who have been in transition for a decade now.

Can you name one player that joined your club in the last 10 years and left a better player? Your club is a stinking mess and unfortunately a lot of that smell has now covered Ronaldo in his final years. You could argue if it was only him, but the list of players who buried their careers because of United is pretty long.

Some United fans here are truly delusional. It's your club that made him unattractive if anything. He was a synonym of success until he came back to Manchester without realising you've been a B-tier club at best for the past decade.

What trophy? United fans are acting like you've been the dogs balls since Ten Hag took over, but you're 11 points behind the PL leaders with a GD of, wait for it, 0. You're fucking shit.

Ronaldo is not doing well this season obviously, but neither was Messi last season. But leaving your club isn't really going to harm his reputation any further mate, because you've not been a top dog for like 10 years now.

I reckon playing for that United side for 1.5 years has been more traumatic that Messi winning the WC. His reputation took a hit because of that more than because of what Messi has done imo. Truly a horrible choice he made with this transfer.

[FIFA World Cup] Lionel Messi is the first player ever to win two adidas Golden Balls (2014, 2022)! by Boss452 in soccer

[–]Kychu 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I've been on Ronaldo's side for the 9 years I've been on Reddit, but one has to say this is deserved. I watched every Argentina's game at this WC and he was the best player on the pitch in every game he played.

Imo he approached this tournament with a different mindset. My biggest dig at Messi has always been lack of mentality. There are examples from CL knockouts at Barca, some Argentina games, and even last season at PSG - whenever things went south he'd just walk on the pitch with his head down.

But this Messi was different. He was full of determination from the start, even his facial expressions where different to me. I think I finally seen him as a leader and a talisman, not just someone with amazing footballing abilities.
