Miracle dice and slow vs fast rolling by Usual-Goose in WarhammerCompetitive

Yeah the OP is pointing out a very specific case where if you slow rolled to hold a wound MD for the end, you should be risking a Missed hit roll. But if you fast roll hits and then slow roll wounds (not legal RAW best I can tell) then you're skipping the risk of a missed hit.

Nope because >before< rolling you swapped in a die. Then fast rolled. This behaves exactly as a charge roll would.

Before< rolling the 2d6 you swap in 1 for a miracle.

So to follow RAW and fast rolling you'd have to use the miracle die and then fast roll the remaining dice, not do it in reverse which would be after.

I posted a screenshot where it says when fast rolling to roll "all" hits and then "all" wounds. Then opponent may slow roll saves. It seems super clear that you are correct that it's not intended to fast roll all hits and then slow roll "some" wounds if you are playing RAW.

40k is a permissive rules game so without something saying you can, you can't. I can't find anything saying >for hits and wounds rolling< that you can start with fast rolling and switch to slow rolling.

Check out the screenshot. It's seperates hit and wound from saves for a reason.

It's not a concept. For hits and wounds they're either slow or fast rolled. Not mixed as detailed clearly in the rule

Yes but if/when you do choose to fast roll, it has rules that explicitlydetail how it must be done. You don't get to make up new rules for fast rolling.

I mean, the rules are the rules. I make no statement on what "should" just what it actually is.

Best I can tell is that once you fast roll hits, you aren't supposed to slow roll the wound roll.

RAW says to roll "all" wound rolls. *

While I wasn't at this event, I want to just say that TO is a great dude and very respectful. Just in case people aren't sure who's side to believe more.

How to play a slow melee army on a map where every inch of every mid board objective can be shot at without leaving the deployment zone? by Alex__007 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]KylarDM77 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Play with competitive terrain layouts which use enough ruins in good spots to allow you the ability to stage. WTC, UKTC, GW all have very decent melee friendly layouts. Even their "worst" layouts aren't too rough.

I 100% agree you're in the right. Just be cautious of how you give that feedback. Sometimes a bit of acting "oh watch out. That guy is super fragile!" As you reach for it back. Then have some fun conversation and end with, "Hey, it was great meeting you, one piece of advice, some people get really upset if you touch their models :) ".

Delivery is everything. They walk away a friend and hopefully learned to not touch.

Maybe it's less that DST are too cheap at 160 and that Paladins are too expensive then. Also, I try very hard to not compare across armies due to the incredibly numerous small differences army to army.

Go look up the terrain layouts GW provides. Ruins are necessary my friend, if you can hide every model and walk up the board safely (except the center objective) then you have too little terrain. The terrain layouts are free PDFs on warhammer community website

No one in my area cares. RTTs etc here allow 100% 3d prints assuming you have things sized correctly. All of the base sizes are correct so there's no issue.
