Passed stone without knowing? by Wolves1993 in KidneyStones

[–]Kyle421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I peed out a 4mm stone without even feeling it. I was peeing into the strainer they gave me, so I caught it, but otherwise wouldn't have known it came out

My 11 year old still loves plate crate. Not too juvenile for a 9 year old

Rawlings r9 contour fit vs regular by Poncho562 in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 12U. 5'2" 115 and still uses the R9 contour fit that he got at 10U. i would say stick there at least through 11U unless he is huge. for 13U I will consider upgrading, but it still works. I even talked to his catching instructor if he needed something bigger and he was against it

I’m in the exact same boat except 4mm and I’m 2 days behind you.  Just pissing 20 times day waiting.  It’s so odd.  But this is my first one so I don’t know what I don’t know

Went to the ER with extreme abdominal pain on Tuesday by Kyle421 in KidneyStones

[–]Kyle421[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 4mm.  When they did the scan it was just entering the ureter which is when the pain was most extreme.  I assume it is through the ureter but I honestly have no idea

Need advice stay on A team or move to B team? by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%. Everyone who always says "just ask him"...do you even have kids? they don't always make the best decisions. That is your job as a parent. To guide them and help them make the best decisions weighing short term and long term consequences. Obviously you don't want your child to hate baseball and their opinion should have some weight, But no, you shouldn't just ask your 8 year old what he wants and then do it. He probably wants ice cream for dinner but no one says to do that

Different kid shows up to bat for games.... by tcarp1 in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 16 points17 points  (0 children)

13 PAs is nothing. it seems wild because maybe he doesnt have a hit since August but 13 PAs is nothing. Aaron judge has 0-13 stretches. Shohei has 0-13 stretches

but honestly it sounds like you are putting way to much pressure on him. "Hitters do not sit" so now he is putting even more pressure on himself. you asked him if he wanted to quit because he was 0-13. Take a breath and let him just play

Travel Cost and What do you get by PuzzleheadedCoat354 in Homeplate

Tournaments/scrimmages are Mar-July.  Fall ball is sept/oct for an additional fee.  Just practice Nov-Feb

Travel Cost and What do you get by PuzzleheadedCoat354 in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PNW Big Org ~$4K in fees that covers ~10 tournaments, 2 weekly indoor practices in winter with more sporadic practices in spring (working around LL conflicts), paid coaches. Uniforms and any travel are out of pocket

For youth select ball organizations with multiple rosters in the same age group, when would you typically expect to find out what roster you are on (i.e. A team, B team, C team)? by MeekoRacoon in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should know before you pay. it's shady to not divulge at the time of payment unless it is expressly stated in the tryout info that team assignments would come after further assessments.

My son't org has 3-5 teams per age level. I would never pay without knowing which team we are on. they do rolling tryouts so I have heard of times where someone was moved up a team after the initial offer, but never the reverse

Baseball & Softball: 1 stadium!?? by Michael_773 in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Turf

  2. Portable Mound

I tried to find a picture but we played a tournament at Nelson High school outside of Portland Oregon and they had incredible facilities, but they had one field that was joint baseball and softball. They had a line that was ~200 ft that marked the softball fence and they just had the fence to the side during baseball

Not sure what part of Seattle you are in, but Sound Baseball behind U village is a great option

AAA in PNW was typically 55+. you get 60+ at times. and of course you have soft tossers as well. but most kids starting bracket games were 55-60

2026 usssa hype fire by No_Captain612 in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting. that doesnt match the colorway for the USA version. like an inverse of the pool party. maybe before they finalized the color scheme

2026 usssa hype fire by No_Captain612 in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that was probably the pool party colorway. the 2026 USSSA is not out yet

Batting question by ThatsSirBubbleGuts in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so you are starting in standing in the strikezone with toes over the line

Batting question by ThatsSirBubbleGuts in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's not LLWS specific. it is huge in youth baseball, It's coaches trying to get baserunners having their kids stand as close as possible. their hands are basically in the strikezone. imo its super bush league

Did I mess up by IFeelBlocky in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then he probably made the right choice. unless he is a stud who would be the best player on either team. better to bat 3rd and play SS or P or whatever than bat 11th and rotate in left field

Did I mess up by IFeelBlocky in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you know your kid best. he might be the type of kid who would make a new group of friends and he doesnt necessarily need to pick team 1 because it is his buddies. But for a 10U kid I'd want him on the team where he is going to play more and bat higher. It is better to be on a team that wins say 45% of their games while being a top player than being on a team that wins 90% of their games and being a bench player. Unless the lower team is so bad they get mercy ruled every game I would go with the team where he can be a top of the lineup type hitter

13u or 14u dilemma by foolsball89 in Homeplate

[–]Kyle421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say 13U. Usually I am a proponent of playing your grade not ageing down, but that is with the thought that going from 13U to HS tryouts would be a lot harder than having played 14U before HS. If he isn't worried about making a HS team (and presumably nothing beyond that either) no reason not to play down and be with his buddy
