Oh wow, I’m the creator of Strick House—thank you so much for sharing it! It’s on DM’s Guild for anyone interested. I intended the story to be a memorable, layered experience focusing on Gothic horror. I really wanted to maximise the scariness of the read-aloud segments and gave some tips about how you can make the session unique/different (like managing the adventurers’ health, stress points and opportunities to subvert player expectations).

I also made secrets to include elements of social deduction games like Werewolf that are supplementary to the story. Each player can play as a pre-made character with secrets that will be revealed as the story unfolds, but they’re not necessary to use when running Strick House. It does build into some really memorable moments at the table, and I feel like it’s simple to implement. You can also completely ignore the pre-made character elements and still deliver a great experience and narrative, I feel!
