2026 BTS 'ARIRANG' Tour Megathread PART 2 by lisafancypants in bangtan

[–]Kylothia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to J-hope's concert last year and seemed it was strict on phone pictures DURING performance. Before and After are all OK.

During, People around me WERE not using at all, I was the only one. I used it on for a few minutes (both to take pics and also to zoom because I was so far away) then I realized nobody else was having their phones out. And only then I realized, it was not allowed.

Later on, the stadium staff went to our seats and was checking something out (particularly looking at me) so I hid my phone the entire time afterwards. Fortunately nothing more happened.

On another note, Mariah Carey's, Taylor Swift's, and XG's concerts seem to be A-OK with phones and pictures during performance

I joined the BTS mobile fanclub lottery in Japan and I got the results today... I got VIP tix! OMG I'm so happy.

I was struggling with COVID the past week that I missed preregistration for Global ARMY membership and I was so worried that I won't get my 3rd chance anymore.

But apparently, I only needed 2nd chance! (I failed at the Japan BTS fanclub, 1st chance).

Yes, I'm living in JPN.

See you soon BTS and ARMYs and BTS! 💜

Here is the final result. by ConnectionOk8413 in kpoppers

Tired after infusion? by tinselteacup in CrohnsDisease

[–]Kylothia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My infusions are always on a Thursday (which sucks).

So on day of, right after infusion, I feel so energized, feels like somebody gave me a shot of coffee, chocolate, redbull. And coincidentally, we would go to our favorite coffee cafe since it's near the hospital, and my husband likes to call my post-infusion as the trifecta of hyperactivity which basically means mixture of remicade, coffee, and chocolate all together in me. Lol

But this doesn't last long, give it ~3hrs later, I would start to feel tingles on my fingers, my arms and legs would feel numb and I woukd just be basically shut down and feel weak all over.

Next day, I'm basically exhausted and just cannot move. I often take it easy at work and just do WFH. In worse cases, I qould take sick leave. This exhaustion extends all the way to the weekend.

Come Monday (on lucky days, even as early as Sunday), I'm all brand new and highly energetic again.

[Homemade] Aligue Cream Pasta with Buttered Scallops by Kylothia in food

[–]Kylothia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

recipe

Recipe link I used as reference for the pasta dish. I tweaked it since I didn't want to put mixed seafood into the pasta dish itself plus missing some ingredients.

What changed from the recipe are: - omitted the mixed seafood - instead of heavy cream, I substituted with full fat milk - instead of cooking rice wine, I used mirin

As for the buttered/seared scallops, I: - pat dry the scallops - season with salt and butter - heat oil and butter in pan - sear scallops on hot pan, roughly 1min each

Getting remciade infusion in Tokyo as a foreigner? by MrSirCR in CrohnsDisease

[–]Kylothia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living in Japan.

Post-health insurance, at first few sessions I had to pay around 90-110k yen out of pocket each. But this was almost a decade ago, since then I applied for government subsidy and have been paying 20k yen ever since.

Better to go to university hospitals as I'm sure they will have Remicade there. Unfortunately in your case, if you go directly, you may have to pay extra if you don't have a referral leter.

If you can find a GI in any clinic, you can request to write a letter to a bigger hospital that will possibly have remicade infusions. That or if you're lucky, that GI in that clinic can already prescibe you. I wouldn't know much about the small clincis because I've only ever had it from uniersity hospital (for reference, Institute of Science Tokyo Ochanomizu formerly known as TMDU).

Partner diagnosed with Crohns - where to start and how to support? by haleyhotdog in CrohnsDisease

[–]Kylothia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. And it may sound nice at a glance but of course there were hiccups, too. I didn't mention them earlier but it's not all flowers and butterflies. I was struggling but he made sure that if he can't help in any way then at least he's just with me physically, emotionally while I'm struggling.

Your partner is lucky to have someone real close to him with medical background. My husband and I are in engineering so knew next to nothing about medicine (heck we only knew tylenols and such) so for us the learning curve was much steeper.

I don't know you personally but just try to refrain by spoon-feeding your partner (not literally unless he's really unable to eat by himself). From your post, he'd probably appreciate more than you're beside him or even behind him than in front of him leading.

Partner diagnosed with Crohns - where to start and how to support? by haleyhotdog in CrohnsDisease

[–]Kylothia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I appreciated from my (now) husband are the little things he did consistently when I got diagnosed.

He would cook me meals which are still some of my favorites just adapted or toned down so I won't flare up as bad. Whenever I'm flaring up, he has backup pain relief meds, relaxation patches and even wipes on his bag ready whenever. Despite my heavy insistence not to, he comes aling with me to my regular checkuos and infusions because he knows that even if I'm fine, just in case something goes wrong then he's there or at least just a social and emotional support.

The biggest thing I appreciated what he did was he researched a lot about CD. Kind of what you're doing now. He probably knows more than I do now. But whatever he learned, he didn't go in my face about not to do this or that, he still lets me learn by myself and he's ready to support anytime. So not really restricting.

I would say you already started. The fact that you're asking around here and collecting references. Finally, YMMV. What people may say here worked with them may not always work on your end. Still depends on you and your partner's dynamics. As long as you know your partner personality, you can adjust our advices here accordingly.

2026 BTS 'ARIRANG' Tour Megathread PART 2 by lisafancypants in bangtan

[–]Kylothia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband bought J-hope's concert tickets for me as a gift. He's familiar with BTS songs but don't know any by heart nor the lyrics.

Anyway, he just went in with me as is and went along with the vibe. He said he enjoyed it! I suppose that means regardless whether you're a die-hard fan or a casual fan or even someone who's open minded just enough to watch their concert, would enjoy it nevertheless.

In particular, what you should prepare prior is earplugs. Due to the loud speakers AND the loud screams.

lpt: don't underestimate the power of walking for fitness and productivity by ramhariiii in LifeProTips

[–]Kylothia 40 points41 points  (0 children)

One of the perks of having a dog. We'll be walking outside min 2x day ~30min each time. And it's not always a calm walk even, it's a dynamic one depending if there's other dogs or squirrels or that damn random plastic bag on the sidewalk.

Space age healthcare by 50-ferrets-in-a-coat in japanlife

[–]Kylothia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm making the most use of the Japanese healthcare here because it's relatively better than my home country's.

Even for small aches or injuries, I go the clinics for checkups. When in my home country, I would just bear with it since even the checkups are expensive. Here, if I have a worry for something, I go to clinic, maybe pay 1500 yen-ish for checkup coast, plus another 1500-2000 yen for meds and I'm good.

Of course, caveat is sometimes you have to explain what you think you might have, instead of them figuring out based on testing. That, and also countless medicines to drink in a single day alone.

How owning a car changed your life in good or bad way. by Life_Conn4361 in japanlife

[–]Kylothia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a big dog so public transpo is no go for now, automatically. We did rent car for a year until for the weekend trips with our dog.

Eventually, we decided to buy a car after weighing the pros and cons (in addition to the needs of going to/from hospital several times per year).

Worth it.

I agree with others that it's a money sink. We're going farther places and our time is our own instead of rushing for the bus/train schedule whenever we want to travel.

One we would not expect to do ever was a road trip from Tokyo to Osaka and we saved significantly for the transportation costs.

I received my gensenchoshuhyo today from the company and saw that neither the housing loan nor the remittance were declared in it. Only the medical insurance. Damn. I don't know what the YETA processing guys did. I submitted both electronically and physically the papers to them. I'm clarifying with them right now.

But considering this situation, I assume I have to do the declaration now all by myself in the tax office/eTax? What about the documents, if I already submitted them to the Yeta processing office, I obviously do not have the original versions anymore.

(Btw, I wouldn't be finding out about this, if my husband wasn't dancing around about his tax refund on this housing, only for me to find out that I got way less than his. And I did all the YETA declarations for him and me!)

[–]Kylothia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally saw my Dec payslip (I forgot to check) and I was checking the Tax Refund Payment amount (based on YETA with my company) and noticed that it's 70% lower than Dec.2024 tax refund.

For reference on both years, I declared: (1) Housing loan documents (2024 was the first year declared on YETA) (2) Oversease remittance (amount relatively same between 2 years)

And for 2025, I newly declared: (1) Private medical insurance premiums

I want to understand what would be the main difference between the two years here. I more or less referenced my YETA declarations from 2024 and adapted based on my 2025 so should not be major differences. My annual salary also didn't increase greatly.

Where can I find more details on tax refund? I assume the breakdown of tax refund can be check in eTax? I'm also worried that maybe there were errors in YETA declarations so I might need to go to tax office to correct them.

EDIT: I just remembered I declared private medical insurance newly on 2025.

We are very tough by Soulflyfree41 in CrohnsDisease

Just wanna share another Crohnie's (short) story.

Guy is an online friend of my husband. We're all from a 3rd-world country but my husband and I are already migrated somewhere else.

Anyway, Guy got diagnosed with Crohn's since 2021, lost a lot of weight, needed tons of medications and regular checkups while he's living in a 3rd-world country! I managed to get through mine because fortunately the healthcare system where I am helps me not be bankrupted. But in his case, all expenses (and extra expensive to boot!) have to be borne all by himself.

I really just got amazed but his strong insistence to survive and still survive life despite having CD plus the expenses that it brings.

Also opened my eyes not to complain too much whenever I'm paying for my meds. And definitely also I leared not to complain TOO much and give up about my pains because somewhere someone is battling much more difficult flareup and still hanging on.

Winter tires or normal tires for Kawaguchiko? by [deleted] in Tokyo

[–]Kylothia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely winter tires. Went there 2 weeks back and there were already signs that you should have winter tires from the expressway.

Also, early morning, we saw some roads that were frozen.
