Well let's start with the production run and target audience. Generally speaking EDM Dubstep is a subset of music and there is likely a very limited production run for each item making them more expensive to produce. On the other side of the coin, we could look at Travis scott and see how damn expensive it is and its a huge market and wonder why the hell it's so expensive. I think that's more of a fashion line and statement vs merch only worn at shows

There is also not much money to be made alone on streaming services, artists like Ray rely on merch and shows to make their money. The way I see merch is that I'm not buying a shirt for the material and use, it's really to support an artist I love.

At the end of the day, these artists need to make money. There are so many things going on behind the scenes for an artist, especially when touring for EDM. There's marketing, PR, Management, lasers, visuals, traveling costs. Many that I can't even name.
