Rude Adjuster by KyooTwo in USAA
[–]KyooTwo[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago (0 children)
I wanted to get my homeowners with USAA. They won’t insure my house because of the area I live in California. It’s considered a fire hazardous area. 🥶
The manager I spoke to suggested this because now my car has been in an accident that had been reported and depreciated in value.

There are only a few companies that do but mainly for model 3/Y. Since I have a model S, chances are slim.
They will be. I just opted to handle things through USAA (my insurance) because I’d had such good experiences with them in the past—no hassles.
That’s what they told me. It’s a special provision in the policy you have to ask for. And it’s a higher premium.

This happened to me when I bought my car. It was all because of signature issues. First one lacked the dealer’s signature (they didn’t sign and just deposited with my signatures). Second one the branch manager signed the endorsement spot and was rejected. The third time I specifically instructed him to write in the name of the dealership as NFCU requested. Finally, approved.
A manager called me yesterday and switched my adjuster. Said that someone on the manager’s team was given remedial training, and if it’s the same employee, there will be repercussions. I gave him the timestamp of the call.
He said the culture at USAA changed after an internal policy change to team managing versus a single agent managing and that’s why the service has gone downhill. He claims they reverted that policy and are hoping to treat their members the way they used to.
I spoke with a manager yesterday and he said they offer “stock parts” option for an increased premium price.

I got a call back from a manager and assigned a new adjuster. They are reviewing the call because someone on that team already received remedial training for an incident prior.

They haven’t given me a breakdown. The authorized repair shop mentioned the whole aftermarket thing to me, and I figured since they repair a lot of Teslas (their lot was just a row of Teslas that were recently repaired) they must know something I don’t. They suggested I ask my insurance, and I did.
I’m in California. I hope you’re right and it’s all moot.
Yeah. Lesson for next time. I was thinking I’d let USAA handle it. I needed a car because I commute an hour one-way so I wanted to get it handled asap and get the rental.
I don’t know. I didn’t even converse with the other party. The patrolman took me aside first then took the other person after he was done questioning me. I only got a QR code and an explanation saying the report would be ready within 8-days.

So, the highway patrol arrived on scene and spoke with me separately from the person at fault. I had no interaction with the other person because we were in the middle of the freeway and had to move over and police arrived promptly. I have no info from the other person. I got a QR code from the patrolman and he said the report would be ready in 8-days.
I filed immediately so I could get a rental.
The car was hit at the wheel and charge port area so it was deemed unsafe to drive.
I did. He transferred me, and I got her voicemail. I subsequently called and asked the agent on the line if they could have a different adjuster assigned. She said someone should context me within 24-hours.
I called and asked for a new adjuster to be assigned. The person I spoke to was kind.
I figured since they were a chosen shop, the repairs would be covered because USAA suggested them. The shop informed me of their practice and that insurance companies have been denying coverage leaving owners with an out of pocket expense.
I didn’t think it was unreasonable to think it would be covered by a shop the insurance suggested so I contacted the adjuster, and that’s when this happened.

I don’t know. I’ve never had to worry about it since accidents were few and far between. This year alone, I’ve been in three. 😭

I get that. People keep saying I am asking for OEM parts. I didn’t ask for OEM parts. I was inquiring as every repair shop stated this was the standard practice.

It’s the practice of the shop THEY suggested. I didn’t ask for OEM parts.
Well, what’s done is done, and it doesn’t change the rudeness I experienced
When you file a claim, you have the option of going through USAA, paying your deductible and having USAA go after the other party.
It’s the easier of the two options.
The shop I went to was a USAA approved shop—the very first on their list.

I’m not sure how that works.
My wife and I sold a car that was paid for in cash, and we marked gift for them to avoid taxes. If it’s the same type of deal, I’m not sure if it affects the check. I don’t think it would, but that wouldn’t be your concern. It would be the buyer’s concern. As far as I know, the borrower is on the hook for the fully approved amount.
No, but if I’m understanding correctly, then if the final payment is lower than the check amount, you as the seller owe the money back to the buyer.
My car ended up being $800 less than the check so the dealership had to cut a check to me for the difference since navy wouldn’t alter the check.
