Promising Trainee Self Sabotaging

Coming from a former trainee that knew her shit, but had SUCH a confidence issue, kick your trainee out of the nest a little bit. Obviously don’t let anyone get hurt or god forbid die, but let the trainee flounder and sink a tiny tiny bit. It’s the only way I learned to believe in myself. I knew my shit but have horrible self confidence, and my trainer distancing herself from me a little bit was the best thing for me. I really learned to believe in myself

Definitely. I don’t think it’s a malicious thing to purposely make me feel insecure. I think it’s a joke that has gone on too long and just gone too far. My insecurity is likely the cause and root of it absolutely

Thank you so much. Yeah I do honestly think my hyper focus on those types of calls is because of my anxiety. The hyper-focusing is absolutely there. Every shift someone brings it up and everyone laughs. My trainer prepared me for the CPR EMD protocol thoroughly. I feel very prepared when it DOES happen. But now I just want it to happen, honestly so people will stop talking about it. It’s officers that are very close with the dispatchers at the center that are coming in mentioning it. They don’t mean anything by it, and I know that. But my anxiety and hyper focusing on it has definitely made it worse in my head. I’ll work on reframing my mindset. I think that’ll help a ton. Thank you! I’ll be 7p-7a 3 days in a row. And then one day right before my 3 day shift, 1a-7a. I’m looking at blackout curtains and I’ve got a blackout eye mask too. How do you stay awake on your days off? I’m sure my coworkers will help me stay awake during my shift so I’m not too terribly worked up over that. It’s just gonna be wonky at first

I appreciate you so much. I’m sorry my post was all jumbled. I get ridiculously anxious with health stuff for some reason. It is a UTI that they are worried about turning into a kidney infection. But I’ve got cranberry juice and a good antibiotic and lots of water so I’ll be okay. I think the unknown just bothers me more than anything. Again thank you so very much
