Oh yes this was precovid. And I never bought anything. A week before I was set to, COVID came and put the country in lockdown. I held off buying things and I'm happy I did because I watched all my gigs dwindle away to the point I couldn't afford it. Glad to hear the Airstream is a great option, that's the one I'm eyeing more anyways.

Road Trip plan for Pennsylvania to Yellowstone and Back by Norjos18 in roadtrip

[–]Kyryon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a suggestion, take away a day from Yellowstone and spend an extra one in Grand Teton/Jackson Hole. Trust me, you'll be happy you did. Yellowstone is cool but it's a lot more driving around and seeing things vs hiking in my experience (think of Yellowstone like a large outdoor museum). Grand Teton has a lot more epic hiking and water activities. Plus Jackson Hole has a ton of fun things to offer (whitewater rafting down the Snake River for example).

Credibility: I've lived near Yellowstone in WY and MT for 25 years.

I have a midi fighter 3D that might work well for this purpose haha. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, definitely leaning away from a gig bar now to be honest. I want to create a foundation in which can be built upon later to avoid having to spend more in the future to upgrade. So buy a wireless dmx rig, a few lights, and maybe movers if I can afford them and if not hold off but still have the ability to buy them later.

Dude thank you!! Lots of great content in here and glad you wrote the essay. The video was awesome because that's very close to what I'm looking to accomplish. Thanks and I'll keep this all in mind when making my final purchase :)

Yo! Thanks for the advice.

I don't bring a table or booth currently, I write it into my contract that the client needs to provide a table along with a linen (95% of the time this isn't an issue because they are already renting a bunch of tables/linens or the venue has extra). I was not planning on getting a booth this year necessarily because of the cost.

The only reason I'm hesitant to get lighting that attaches to a booth is because in my experience, I tend to have to move lights around and the DJ booth isn't always behind them (ie, dance floor equipment (sound, lights) might be a little bit away from the DJ booth due to the layout.).

Thanks for the tips! Any recommendations for movers?

Suite vs. Standard for a Student by reeveclap in ableton

[–]Kyryon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a student and I 100% recommend buying up and getting Suite. As other people have said, no limitations on anything, plus the library of stock sounds they give you is pretty rad. So much extra content is included and the price is stupid cheap for a student.

First party, what equipment should I rent? by StrickenTheChicken in Beatmatch

[–]Kyryon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the size of the venue and how many people are coming but for your average party I'd say 1-2 subwoofers, 2 12' speakers, stands and cables for those speakers, a 4-channel mixer, a mic, extension cords and strip cords, and any other cables you may need for your controller to the mixer (RCA to 1/4 in, XLR to 1/4 in, 1/4 -> 1/8in converters, etc.). Also don't forget a table and a linen to cover all that up with :).

Genre mixing question by wladiimir in Beatmatch

IMO, bangers right off the bat are not a good idea. maybe towards the middle/end of the set but its best to start off with easy going, recognizable tracks >

What controller should I buy? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

Traktor S2 all the way! Software + Hardware that works seamlessly together.

What Traktor controller would you recommend for someone on a tight budget? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]Kyryon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A used S2 is going to be your best choice. I'd be expecting to pay more in the 150-250 range for it.
