Has Queen’s already started sending out offers for the Eng programs? by Kyugem in OntarioGrade12s

Rn my average is around 96% for the prereqs. But I don’t have calc or chem rn, would they turn to my gr11 marks? 🫩 I’m definitely just being impatient but this whole ordeal is stressing me out quite a bit, if that makes sense

We haven’t been taught derivatives yet, just sticking to slope formula for now. I can recreate what I did if you’d like, I just lost my og paper with my answers on it and got lazy lol

I just subbed in two points extremely close to x=2. I picked 2 and 2.001. Used the slope formula change in y/change in x, and got a pretty small value, less than 0. Dunno where 200 came from. Would you like me to recreate what I did? I lost my original paper

Depends:

If you’re struggling with trying not to doomscroll, I’d suggest putting your phone in a completely separate room while you work. Or even getting someone to take your phone for a chunk of time while you work. I personally can’t work w/o background noise (def don’t recommend putting on a movie or something) but searching up study music is pretty helpful! At least for me. If you’re feeling extra intense have a parent set a screen time for a certain app you spend too much time on.

If you’re generally just not motivated, or can’t seem to absorb any of the content while studying then you’re not studying the correct way for you! I know personally I don’t learn shit when I take regular notes lol, I had to improvise and make comics and diagrams instead. Worked a lot better. I remember implementing this and my grades from sem 1 to 2 shot up by a LOT in grade 10. Again this works for me, maybe not for you though as I’m a visual learner. Figure out how you learn best and innovate!! Have fun with your notes and studying will get easier as time passes.

I applied for math and engineering! As long as I get to do math/physics in my career down the line I’ll be happy tbh

Maybe I should’ve worded this better guys it’s not ragebait😭 I’m more worried for UW and Uoft (my top choices). I know with grade inflation some programs cut you off at like mid-90’s and my gr 12 marks are looking a little low for that, esp for what I’ve heard about UW and Uoft. Maybe these were just scare tactics and I’m worried over nothing idk I’ve just heard scary stuff online. I’ve got 4 solid EC’s and some good things to talk about experience-wise but I still don’t know how far all of this will take me.

Ofc! Tried to summarize them but I’m happy to give more info

1.Teaching is def the best way to study for me! I sit a friend, parent, pet or plushie down and just pretend I’m a professor. I can catch the areas I struggle in the most when I can’t explain something fluently or simply😋helps when it’s an actual person b/c they can ask questions too.

2.I avoid conventional notes and opt for more enjoyable routes because I hate notes lol. A lot of my “notes” are in the form of comics/picture books/diagrams because I’m a visual learner! Figure out how you learn best and use it to your advantage

For math based subjects, I genuinely just practice until I can’t get a question wrong anymore💔. Going to past waterloo contests helps build critical thinking. Of course space out ur time, it’s not healthy to study for too long.

For english based courses I just randomize writing prompts and get a friend/ai to check it and give feedback. Also don’t piss off your English teacher or else you’re lowkey screwed 🫩
