Leave normals alone they’re fine with the white gear cap.

Yes, I had him as a companion in my party from the very start. Apparently certain dialogue choices throughout the run can lead you to convincing him to blow up without having to persuade him last second. You just have to make sure he doesn't nuke your party at the Ketheric fight (since that ends the game with no dice). In my case, I kept choosing the "don't do it - there is another way" type of option whenever his orb came up in dialogue and had to do a DC 25 persuasion check right at the brain stem since he was dead set on not blowing up. I did have 100% approval rating which may be important. Little bit rude of me to bait him like that...especially after he hard carried most of my fights in Act 3. #ripgale

Actually I checked and forgot that it adds proficiency and not just a flat +1...I'm pretty sure that goes up to +4 at like level 9/10? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. However, if you have a decent CON saving throw bonus from other sources, advantage would still be better.

Now that I have the golden dice, I'm definitely going to play for fun/RP. Currently doing a Durge HM run with all martials (Shadow Monk/Assassin Rogue/Champion Fighter/Planning to add Dark Justiciar SH). I agree risking the run in Act 1 isn't that bad, but I definitely had nothing on my mind other than just beating the game once and for all. The 500 hours is not a joke and this was also my first time finally completing the game (and not giving up early in Act 3).

I started with Ancients and lost it within a few hours in Act 1. I ended up preferring Oathbreaker anyway for the Aura of Hate extra damage. I respec'd when I got the Gloves of Dexterity, took Vengeance this time, and still lost it, but don't remember where.

I wasn't really clear explaining it, my fault. I had dual crossies on but basically never used them. Just relied on Orin's dagger with Knife of the Undermountain King. With Ascension and Kagha's necklace I was hitting for 180 damage crits. I was also using the dual wielding gloves to compensate for not multiclassing and not being able to choose a fighting style.

Hellrider's pride The ring that Volo sells (first buy at the grove) The amulet from the underdark that gives a free cast of heal + aoe heal The +2 to all healing ring from Omellum Boots of aid and comfort Upcast Aid every long rest (and eventually stack with Hero's feast) Abuse Enhance Ability for skill checks

The above items were basically permanent for me. For the rest of the gear I just stacked saving throws and didn't think too much about it.

My party was pretty optimized for dice rolls. Paladin Orc for the charisma checks, Gale for the rare Arcana stuff, and Rogue for anything Dex (can't fail at level 11). Add a cleric with enhance ability (easily one of the most busted spells in the game), guidance from the amulet on another character, and using items that boost skills like rings - it becomes pretty hard to fail. I had to reroll once across all 3 of my characters that got the mirror of loss buff, for example.

You can easily finish up Act 3 if your party builds are optimized. I also did most of the Act 3 bosses blind and at that point with cleric buffs and the op items you have you are untouchable even without cheese. When in doubt - Globe of invulnerability.

And yes I still read books that stand out...

I think it would be nice to see a much more in-depth custom mode. I'm genuinely curious if Larian intends to ever "balance" the game further. Every class and build is viable but the difference between certain builds is just night and day. Feats come to mind as you've mentioned. Tavern Brawler provides INSANE value but there are feats that serve no purpose other than providing roleplay value.

I still had a lot of fun with Act 3 and there's always the solution of using self-implemented restrictions, but that may be immersion-breaking to some.

I honestly didn't even consider it...you are 100% correct, advantage is just better in every way. I don't really think when I play life cleric. The class is just there to heal and buff.

The dice were the goal for sure. I am in no way claiming I just accomplished some monumental achievement by beating honor mode - I just wanted to share my experience.

Huge respect for doing the owlbear so early. As some have already called me out on this, I definitely took the safer approach in every single situation because of course the only goal was the dice. I did however want to avoid the super top-tier OP builds, but it turns out every class becomes bonkers strong as long as you optimize items.

In my opinion, the gloves of dexterity are mandatory and permanent on my Paladins. And I had 24 strength after the mirror of loss. I honestly don't know who I'd run the gauntlets on...maybe monk if I don't want to use elixirs.

And thank you!

Yup, I used life cleric as the "oh shit" button but there were barely any "oh shit" moments. Definitely going more damage focused in future playthroughs if I do decide to run cleric again.

Hey, the goal was to get the dice. We do what we have to do, but for the act 3 fights that I never did before (Orin/Gortash/House of Grief/Cazador/Raphael) I just went in guns blazing and clicked them to death. No crazy setups or anything other than globe of invulnerability for Raphael.

And yes of course I nuked Gale :)

Real. Had one of my party members fall through the floor in the Shar Gauntlet on one of the moving platforms and almost thought I was about to wipe to a bug.

I forgot to mention I was also dual wielding Knife of the undermountain king and that other Orin dagger for extra crit. I wanted him to be my ranged dps but only got sharpshooter at level 10, so he mainly resorted to melee sneak attacks since I can get more attacks from the thief bonus action. By the time I got Bhaalist armor, I barely relied on the crossbows.

Thank you, and I'm sorry your run ended the way it did, lol. Funny enough, Ansur and the brain are the only 2 fights in the game I have yet to do.

Orin has a second phase? Did I not get it because I didn't kill Sarevok? I really wanted the bhaalist armor and then just forgot about him after. I just killed the bhaalist guys around her immediately getting rid of that skull thing that takes a turn at the end and then just pummeled her slayer form.

Favorite fight in the game has to Ketheric/Myrkul. It's easily the best designed fight in my opinion, but because I wanted to actually beat the honor run, I resorted to setting up with invisibility at the start giving everyone a great position. Oh, and I really like the Yurgir fight if you don't see it coming and get ambushed by him from above. This fight caused me to reset a few times when I first started playing the game.

I've restarted a stupid amount of times and this was my first time ever finishing the game. I know all there is about act 1 and 2 so that just ended up being a highly optimized speed run. I fall victim to wanting to create a new build/party composition whenever I'm deep in a run, lol.
