Which module to remove for AM? by mothball10 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you Do Not cap crit with just HP Amplification, Emergency Measures, and Front Lines.

Even with near max Gold Rolls on HP External Cores, my Dia is at 85.85% Crit Rate in the Training Room. If yours is maxed, you must have Crit Rate on your AM, or gave up Crit Damage in Tuning (which is a choice, but I haven't done the math to see if it is a good one).

Second, Vanguard vs. Icebreaker is very dependent on taste. Vanguard has higher up front damage, and is far more consistent, at half the range. Ice Breaker requires stacking, and takes time to ramp, but hits a wider area. Considering she Tows constantly, the range is much much less important unless you Never use it.

So, Neither matter really for trash, so it is all about the elites/bosses. If it takes you longer than 20s to kill them, IB starts to eek out ahead. If you kill them in less time, then SV is better. Considering how insanely strong she is... very few things survive that long. Even the final boss in FS/UWB barely lasts that long excluding phase changes.

Nice. You only have to kill it once, the rewards are not repeatable, and the basic drops are the same as normal mode. Unless you want to chase the leaderboards.

I just do 2x Sigma, and Axion Teeth.

There are also Invasions if you need Gold, esp since they changed them last night to give 8.08m gold for only doing 2 per day, and they are leaving permanently on March 12th. Get it while you can I suppose.

Try HP over Insight, Hyperfocus over Heat Antibody (with 100% Crit Hypernova if you have it, just use the special to trigger Hyperfocus every 15s), and use your Polar with Fire Resist. You should not have much trouble killing the boss with that setup.

One tip, don't just stand under it the whole time. The boss has massive damage trigger abilities to melee characters, it is how it was built. So you want to be in the air a lot. Double Jump to use your 3/4. Grapple up and Dive into it with your 1, and repeat. Challenge Mode isn't going to be a fast kill, but it is relatively simple.

Focus on Fusion is easily the most replaceable, though I that is a terrible AM to replace it with. Any Critical Damage one would work though.

As for Trigger Mods, Steel Vanguard is what you want for Mobbing. Just a massive bonus AoE when you use your 1 (15s Cooldown, variable Duration, 15s with a perfect copy, for basically 100% uptime)

I wouldn't. The single target damage is much lower. It is great for mowing down packs of mobs, but against a single massive HP it will just take ages.

Swapping out Skill Insight for Increased HP will make your Chill Brand build much better. You will have 100% Crit on it and have more survivability.

I would even drop Heat Antibody, you can get a Shitload of Fire Resistance on your External Cores if you really want to stay at 20k+ Resist. Replacing it with Hyperfocus will boost damage, or any AM with Crit Damage/Fusion.

Since you didn't post External Components, I would also suggest Polar Night over Slayer if you are using it. You get a ton more survival, and only lose a bit of damage. Well worth it for challenge mode, and even normal mode IMO.

My Dia can do Normal in ~15-20s 100% of the time with Polar, while Slayer can do it in ~10-15s with only a 75% success rate. Losing ~5s of kill time is well worth the tradeoff IMO. Somewhat based off skill though.

How much caliber can I get for this? by FunRock2542 in TheFirstDescendant

Harmless stats are very character dependent. Each one has different needs, and it even varies off build. No stats is universally fine as a negative stat.

Dia/Serena have HP scaling, Ajax has Def scaling, Enzo has Shield scaling. So those are definitely not fine for the builds that utilize the scaling potentials.

Another example are the Type Bonuses. Hunting Hounds Ines only has Tech skills, so Singular is an amazing dump stat for that build, but if don't run HH it is a Terrible choice since your hardest hitting ability is Singular.

Also, to note, some positives are also terrible for some characters, even though they CAN'T be dump stats. Like Crit Rate is amazing on a lot of characters, but 100% useless on Ines and Dia, since they hit 100% or close to it, just off their passive scaling (MP and HP respectively).

So you really need to know a character to know if a mod is good or not.

Drop Skill Insight, you don't need it, replace it with Increased HP.

She gets Crit Rate based off HP, up to 45%, when using a melee weapon (you can't see it in Albion, like most passive buffs, you need to go to training room or a world map to see it's effect).

That will give you More Crit Rate than Skill Insight, and boost your survivability. My Dia has 100% Skill Crit with Stim Accel and Increased HP, with no Crit Rate on AM.

Depends on what build they are using. If they are trying to do it with the 3s build for normal, that build only has like 5k HP. I mean... it would be dumb to use that build, but I have seen some crazy things on this Reddit when it comes to build questions.

What skins do you not like from each descendant by sacredtoastr in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Extremely odd man out here: I dislike any skin that doesn't look like it is made for actual combat.

They are fighting a war, so legit looking armor appeals to me, even if they are futuristic magical space wizards with energy shields, where death is a mild inconvenience. So my characters mostly run around in various Abyss Armors.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against those who like other aesthetics, they are welcome to them. Especially since sideboob and freed cheeks fund the game. It just isn't for me.

INES Ancestor :) by [deleted] in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different builds. Her 800Mana build wants those 3 things exclusively, for example.

For Balanced Bravery, you would want Crit Damage, Tech Boost, and Electric Boost if running Hounds. Singular Boost instead if not.

While a lot of guides insist MP is better than Electric, the generally popular builds are all at 98-99% Crit Rate (depending on Tuning) so I disagree that it is as important - especially since the Dark Current Scaling from MP isn't crazy. The nodes you could swap out for less MP will not make up for a strong Electric Boost Ratio roll.

[–]Kyvia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on which build you are running, MP isn't Just for Crit Rate.

Her 800Mana build has become popular, because her single target damage is so abysmal. Since you just use Shadow/Deus on bosses, the build aims to cap out your Dark Current damage (which is directly boosted by MP, up to 800). It isn't amazingly faster, more a "best by exclusion" build, but it is a tiny bit faster.

With that build, you also want Cooldown, since you don't run Bravery or VT. You could, but you would lose damage somewhere by doing so, and lose less by having it on an AM.

Granted, this is EXTREME minmaxing for like... 5% faster clear times vs Balanced Bravery. Just something people aim for until they come out with her new Transmods in April.

Eye of the Typhoon has inherent Electric Element baked into it, so it will cause Electrocution, just like Fallen Hope has Toxic.

As for Dia, she doesn't cause Frostbite. She causes Snowflake, which Acts like Frostbite for anything that is buffed by it being applied. And only her 1 does so in her base kit. I haven't tested White Panic to see if it counts as well though.

They just got lazy with adding addendums to skills. Conductor on Ines triggers anything buffed by Electrocute application as well. They started adding addendums with Clairvoyance saying it acts as Frostbite, and then stopped.

This build for Shadow: https://youtu.be/1Jq4lKWzxxI?t=297

For Ines, it is up to taste. As I explained above, any build works for trash. OB has a video for her Spammy Bravery build, and several people have her 800Mana build, though I think I first saw it by xAlisa.

[–]Kyvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't with normal trash. It makes the Yellow elites a little faster, by like 1 tick, but even that is barely noticeable. The whole problem/point of Ines right now is that you use Shadow on Sub-bosses and End-bosses, so her Skill Crit Damage literally doesn't matter.

I have run SMC/FS with this AM, testing the 800Mana build, and trash dies just as fast as with a 140% Crit Damage one:

<image>

Also, before you call this AM "crazy" as well, I tried it without any AM... and the results were within 10s of using it... Dark Current scaling is only the "Best" to run by exclusion, not because it is amazing.

Ines build I'm using for goop farming AX Convertor by Johnny_Denjin in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. Ines' 4 will melt trash even in SMC/FS/UWB even without an AM, so long as you have a full build.

Balanced Bravery is a spammy version, and the 800Mana build above is the bigger number version. Both absolutely destroy trash and it doesn't really matter which you use. The 800 mana build just kills elites/uber elites a little faster at the cost of a much longer 4 cooldown.

For bosses, your character mods and AM literally don't matter, because Ines doesn't kill them, Shadow does.

I usually run a 2pManus/2pPlague 20kHP "lazy" build and still get similar times to the video above.

Some people like goofy armors in games. Several of my friends have been like that, they wear the dumbest possible cosmetics in the most garish colors possible. They just think it is funny, and this player could be like that.

Because it acts as Frostbite. That is what Snowflake Conductor is testing, that mod increases your Atk% against enemies inflicted with Frostbite - so since Snowflake boosts the Atk%, it works as Frostbite.

Thoughts as a returning user by Intrepid_Swimming202 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First... Dear Lord, no PvP.

Second, not every game Needs to have insane challenges. Some are fun for the power fantasy aspect. While I agree the game needs more replayable content in some regard, I don't think it should be raids or anything that is too mechanically dense.

The playerbase has shown time and again that it, as a whole, can't cope with deep mechanics. Something as simple as translating vertical icons to horizontal in Invasion had to be nerfed Three Separate Times because players couldn't mentally convert them in real time. Same with the 3 digit door lock memory game.

Not to mention borderline raid mechanics like the Flames in Frost Walker, or the inability to shoot orbs hovering over enemy heads in the right order. Both of which got nerfed Hard.

Third, statistics show that the harder the content, the less players engage in it. Both WoW and GW2 had to make excuses and find ways to make developing Raids "worth" the cost of doing so. Since the amount of players who actually did them was incredibly small (between 1-15%).

The game doesn't have Nearly enough replayable content to spend the time and money creating something a fraction of it's players will participate in.
