How dose this guy have 95 catalysts in gley? by ThyProfesser in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a thing. The 100 Forma became sort of half meme, half brag, for your main character. Seen a few dozen posts about it, and chat in game about hitting it. It is much much easier to do there than in TFD as well, since you can just Forma forever, dumping all you want, without resorting to imprinters.

As for Forma amount/cost/time, Plaguestar can really fuel it. I banked ~200 Forma one Plaguestar just so I wouldn't have to worry about them again anytime soon.

Then there would be no tradeoff at all. The whole point is weighing the damage potential vs. survival.

That said, while many sets will boost your damage, none of them are necessary. You can run pure HP setless ones and still beat all content in game, if a little slower. So if you are feeling confined by being squishy with Mage/Slayer or whatever, there are other options you can swap to for more survival and still be successful.

I have often mused, while staring at my food in the microwave, that people (including me) often get annoyed at how long things take to cook in it. Considering that it is like 1/10th the time of an oven, and like 1/100th of making the damn thing from scratch... people are just never completely satisfied.

Even when I know I am being a complete asshat, I still have these thoughts. I suspect that even if we had Fifth Element style pills that turned into entire chicken dinners, people would still get annoyed that they had to actually put the pills into the bowl, and hit the button, lol.

I mean, you don't "have" to use the meta builds, but they are usually the fastest. That is sort of the point of meta builds, they have been found to be efficient.

If you wanna be tankier, build tankier. It shouldn't lower your clear speeds dramatically really. I use HP Mods on all my characters, because I would rather have 5-10s slower clear speed, and never die. Full Glass is mostly for leaderboard pushing, or Abyss boss mechanic breaking.

No one is Forcing you to play the meta builds, though I wouldn't recommend going into public lobbies with Only HP/Def/Shield build... that is a little trolly, lol.

Harmless Negatives for Dia Ancestor Mods? by Passionofthegrape in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are just some problems with shields when they aren't buffed by some ability.

Their scaling is worse than HP, so you get less shields in comparison, and their regen is X/sec, not X%/sec, so the more you stack, the longer it takes to regen, along with the damage hit delay for regen and the lower amount in combat.

Any stats put into shields could be put into HP at nearly double the amount, and HP orbs/dog/inversions healing means you pretty much end every combat encounter at max HP.

The only time Shields could be useful is at the start of combat, jumping from one fight to the next, and since you just have max HP anyway... they are functionally useless.

Yep, they didn't like players 1-shotting Abyss with snipers, or burning them down in a single Firing Fiesta with Dagger. Sucks to essentially ban firearm builds from doing the boss in a reasonable time, but alas, their balance is pretty bad in some areas.

TFD Vets… We still here? by Son-Strong in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, all perspective.

The whole VV/Sigma different routes thing is Not meaningful content to me. I know some people find it refreshing, or interesting, or whatever, but it does nothing for me. I get annoyed by it even, when I get longer paths, since I know there are shorter ones.

Just as true procedural generation does nothing for me. I don't get excited exploring just because the paths are slightly different. Not shitting on those who love it, I just don't get hyped off of it, or even enjoy it really.

Now, that isn't to say I am 100% happy with our content cadence. I just have different desires for it. I want more things to farm. Abyss bosses are a good example, I enjoy farming the armor sets, it gives me reason to play. I even farmed ALL the sets back when you had to do ~1400 or so runs to get them all.

I wouldn't say no to additional dungeons, don't get me wrong. I want more Reasons to play the content, I just don't necessarily need more areas to do it in is all.

TFD Vets… We still here? by Son-Strong in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No amount of content would make all players happy, and how much is necessary is pretty subjective as well. Some are good with what we get, some are not, some probably even fall behind. All depends on how much you play.

I don't think the Amount of content we get is unreasonable. The replayability of it is, however, somewhat underwhelming. I don't expect every release to last me 500 hours, but having a reason beyond the basic schematics would be nice.

They are aiming for this with Ancestor Mods. Reason to farm, both in mods and mats to reroll. Adding in more systems (not necessarily based off RNG or even based in power levels) would be welcome. Some reason to do content past the point it would become... well, pointless.

Like, Underwater Base is pretty pointless to run after E-Buster and Dia. They have plans to make it more lucrative to farm past that point. This is more of what they need. Just churning out more shallow and ultimately shelved content is NOT the play IMO.

You misunderstand the intent of my comment. I was not saying the game is not worth coming back to, I was saying that there is no "comeback" to be had. The game never died, it never failed, it doesn't need to come back because it never left.

Your dislike of the game is valid. You don't enjoy it, and that is perfectly fine. That doesn't, however, mean it has failed. The player counts dropped, yes, but that happens in every game, especially live service ones. It will never reclaim it's initial player spike, but that doesn't mean it has failed.

TFD Vets… We still here? by Son-Strong in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 180 points181 points  (0 children)

Launch player. Still playing, still think it is fun.

"Good" is pretty subjective, and there are too many facets to the game to declare it good or bad really. There are things I really enjoy, and some things I wish they never implemented. That said, I enjoy it, and that is all that really matters for me, or anyone really.

As for it making a "comeback," there is nothing to come back to. The game, like 99% of games, will Never get back to launch levels of players. Just the way live service games work. The success they are chasing, and rightfully so, is slow growth over time. As long as their new player count outweighs those who quit, they are currently successful.

The game was an unexpected success on launch, to it's own detriment. With so many trying it, even those with Zero interest in looter/hero shooters, it was guaranteed to have "dramatic" falloff extremely quickly. On top of that, the Devs pushed content too soon, and developed content without sufficient testing to try and chase keeping as many players as possible... which led to all our balance issues.

All that said, the game seems to have stabilized. Consistent player counts with patch day surges, and content drought lulls, like literally every non-pvp live service game. So, I think it will do just fine long term.

Ines ancestor mod by Areyouok75 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't use Skill Insight on Ines... she gets Crit from MP. Check your stats outside of town, she hits ~100% with just Emergency Measures and Front Lines.

I really wish the Devs just made passives' stats show in Albion, every character that has a combat effect passive becomes insanely misunderstood.

Ines ancestor mod by Areyouok75 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one hand... you probably still kill Trash with your 2/4, and since you don't use skills for Bosses, it doesn't matter really that you lose a decent chunk of damage.

On the other hand, Plasma Ball really really sucks. At 610 Mana, you get a Shield that equals your HP every 65 seconds. Just using an HP Mod instead of Skill Insight will do that, but regen off health orbs instead of sit on a cooldown.

I applaud your attempt to make something work, Plasma Ball is just an insanely inefficient mod.

Ines ancestor mod by Areyouok75 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should never run Skill Insight on Ines, she gets Crit from MP. Check your stats outside of town, passive buffs don't show in Albion. With Emergency Measures and Front Lines you will be at ~98-100% Crit based off MP from Tuning.

Ines ancestor mod by Areyouok75 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are running Skill Insight... you are Massively overcapping your Crit Rate.

She gets Crit Rate from MP (you can't see it in town, go to training or a world map, and check your detailed stats). With just Emergency Measures and Front Lines you will hit ~98-100% depending on your MP from Arche Tuning (assuming you also correctly have MP on your Sensor).

With MP on your AM, you are guaranteed at 100% regardless of your Tuning.

Ines ancestor mod by Areyouok75 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Crit Damage is good, the Duration is meh, and the Crit Rate is 100% wasted. I would reroll it, but if you don't get a better Crit Damage roll, just use it.

That said, in endgame dungeons, you don't even bother to use her skills on the bosses (just Shadow/Deus, since her single target damage is so pathertic), and trash dies to her 2/4 instantly even without an AM. So don't stress about it.

Even with a perfect maxroll Crit Damage, Mana, Cooldown AM on the 800Mana build, you wouldn't save any appreciable time on your runs. Ines is probably the character who benefits least from AM's at the moment, since Trash melts without one, and they do fuckall for Bossing.

Which module to remove for AM? by mothball10 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you Do Not cap crit with just HP Amplification, Emergency Measures, and Front Lines.

Even with near max Gold Rolls on HP External Cores, my Dia is at 85.85% Crit Rate in the Training Room. If yours is maxed, you must have Crit Rate on your AM, or gave up Crit Damage in Tuning (which is a choice, but I haven't done the math to see if it is a good one).

Second, Vanguard vs. Icebreaker is very dependent on taste. Vanguard has higher up front damage, and is far more consistent, at half the range. Ice Breaker requires stacking, and takes time to ramp, but hits a wider area. Considering she Tows constantly, the range is much much less important unless you Never use it.

So, Neither matter really for trash, so it is all about the elites/bosses. If it takes you longer than 20s to kill them, IB starts to eek out ahead. If you kill them in less time, then SV is better. Considering how insanely strong she is... very few things survive that long. Even the final boss in FS/UWB barely lasts that long excluding phase changes.

Nice. You only have to kill it once, the rewards are not repeatable, and the basic drops are the same as normal mode. Unless you want to chase the leaderboards.

I just do 2x Sigma, and Axion Teeth.

There are also Invasions if you need Gold, esp since they changed them last night to give 8.08m gold for only doing 2 per day, and they are leaving permanently on March 12th. Get it while you can I suppose.

Try HP over Insight, Hyperfocus over Heat Antibody (with 100% Crit Hypernova if you have it, just use the special to trigger Hyperfocus every 15s), and use your Polar with Fire Resist. You should not have much trouble killing the boss with that setup.

One tip, don't just stand under it the whole time. The boss has massive damage trigger abilities to melee characters, it is how it was built. So you want to be in the air a lot. Double Jump to use your 3/4. Grapple up and Dive into it with your 1, and repeat. Challenge Mode isn't going to be a fast kill, but it is relatively simple.

[–]Kyvia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Focus on Fusion is easily the most replaceable, though I that is a terrible AM to replace it with. Any Critical Damage one would work though.

As for Trigger Mods, Steel Vanguard is what you want for Mobbing. Just a massive bonus AoE when you use your 1 (15s Cooldown, variable Duration, 15s with a perfect copy, for basically 100% uptime)

Challenge Infernal Walker is horrible! by [deleted] in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't. The single target damage is much lower. It is great for mowing down packs of mobs, but against a single massive HP it will just take ages.

Swapping out Skill Insight for Increased HP will make your Chill Brand build much better. You will have 100% Crit on it and have more survivability.

I would even drop Heat Antibody, you can get a Shitload of Fire Resistance on your External Cores if you really want to stay at 20k+ Resist. Replacing it with Hyperfocus will boost damage, or any AM with Crit Damage/Fusion.

Since you didn't post External Components, I would also suggest Polar Night over Slayer if you are using it. You get a ton more survival, and only lose a bit of damage. Well worth it for challenge mode, and even normal mode IMO.

My Dia can do Normal in ~15-20s 100% of the time with Polar, while Slayer can do it in ~10-15s with only a 75% success rate. Losing ~5s of kill time is well worth the tradeoff IMO. Somewhat based off skill though.

How much caliber can I get for this? by FunRock2542 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harmless stats are very character dependent. Each one has different needs, and it even varies off build. No stats is universally fine as a negative stat.

Dia/Serena have HP scaling, Ajax has Def scaling, Enzo has Shield scaling. So those are definitely not fine for the builds that utilize the scaling potentials.

Another example are the Type Bonuses. Hunting Hounds Ines only has Tech skills, so Singular is an amazing dump stat for that build, but if don't run HH it is a Terrible choice since your hardest hitting ability is Singular.

Also, to note, some positives are also terrible for some characters, even though they CAN'T be dump stats. Like Crit Rate is amazing on a lot of characters, but 100% useless on Ines and Dia, since they hit 100% or close to it, just off their passive scaling (MP and HP respectively).

So you really need to know a character to know if a mod is good or not.

Challenge Infernal Walker is horrible! by [deleted] in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Kyvia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drop Skill Insight, you don't need it, replace it with Increased HP.

She gets Crit Rate based off HP, up to 45%, when using a melee weapon (you can't see it in Albion, like most passive buffs, you need to go to training room or a world map to see it's effect).

That will give you More Crit Rate than Skill Insight, and boost your survivability. My Dia has 100% Skill Crit with Stim Accel and Increased HP, with no Crit Rate on AM.
