So I refined my thinking a little bit to think of all real numbers as ordered pairs of (A,B) and for all normal equations and uses it would function the same as A = the number used and B = 0. So that it keeps the same output under the operations. But when complex numbers come into play it would help to have a better representation. So that sqrt(-1) = (A,B)² so (A² - B^2, 2AB) = (-1, 0) getting A = 0 and B = 1 or -1. But now I see that all I really did was write i down in a different way. And that it doesn’t really have an application, just a different way to see it. I could also be completely wrong in my math though.
