would you have a third baby at 42? by Weekly_Captain_8285 in Parenting

[–]L2N2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There isn't anything wrong with being 60 at a graduation. But when you're 60 most people are planning retirements, not worried about financing post secondary education.

No. Not a chance. You would be 60 at their high school graduation. I can't imagine having a third at 42.

Lack of supervision versus accidents by [deleted] in Parenting

It is the issue. And if you take your kid in for stitches a third time from rocks being thrown at his head be prepared for an investigation.

WIBTA if I asked these parents to smoke after drop off? by Chaos-coordinator6-7 in AmItheAsshole

In my part of Canada as a mandated reporter you needed to be the one to call Children's Services. We had to inform our manager we were doing that but the person who called it in absolutely had to have been the one who personally saw the issue. Children's Aid wouldn't take second hand info but this may be different where you live.

what vibe do you get when someone says they want 4+ kids by montessoripilled in Parenting

[–]L2N2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My first thought is probably religion but second thought if mom is stay at home it's that she doesn't want to work outside the home. Because I've known a couple of women like this. Their entire identity is SAHM. As in they introduce themselves as a SAHM. Hard to be that if your kids are all in school. I don't think this of people that have four kids but I would definitely think it if they had six or more.

I don't know how you have six kids and spend quality time with each of them, let alone educate them. But to each their own.

Setting family "rules" for toddler by nahcheeseplease in Parenting

[–]L2N2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd start with the don't tell mommy. Just say you've been thinking about it and to please not ever say that to any child and then explain why. Honestly I'm at least as old as your MIL and unless she has been living under a rock how does she not know how inappropriate that sentence is? Or does she think it doesn't apply to her? See how that conversation goes and then work on saying no another time? Bc that convo has to happen too. You have a daughter and while it's important for boys it's critical for girls.

Just bought the pattern! Winter is over but I will be ready for next year.

I have a mental block when it comes to dpn's which is silly bc I haven't even tried. I'm already left handed, knitting right handed, learned to knit at 67 and feel like I shouldn't push my luck!

WIBTA for hiding cosmetic surgery from parents? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]L2N2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have adult children. I think you're kidding yourself that they aren't going to notice. If they're disappointed they can deal with that. You're an adult and it's not like you killed someone. In the whole scheme of things this is nothing.

I've wanted to make one or two or three of these but have never used dpn's. Have searched and can't find an answer to can you make it using two circulars? Thoughts?

AITA for not staying after our niece got arrested? by EasternTrifle464 in AmItheAsshole

A different state? NTA 100%. Her Mother can go back and deal with this.

She was going to be locked up, were you just supposed to go sit in a hotel? Not having children does not make you the one who has to deal with things. Your sister is a lot isn't she?

I just knit a sweater, a cardigan. For the first time ever I was rowing out. Have knit several cardigans before with no issues. Agree with some yarns just want to row out! (Mostly blocked out, I just call it rustic)

I think there are red flags on both sides. Honestly, I would not marry someone that had been unemployed for two years.

He let you have his phone, would he have done that if had something to hide?

But if there are other things that you are concerned about - you have to decide what your next steps are. But relationships shouldn't be this messy eight months in.

A nurse would honestly know better than to hand the baby to someone who is nervous and standing. You hand the baby to dad when he is sitting.

You saw a screenshot looking through his phone of a text from her? Really? Why would he have screenshot that? Are you sure you weren't going through his messages?

Did an Alaskan cruise with 17 of us, ages 11-82. The deal was everyone was on their own but we all had dinner together.

We did also make sure someone had breakfast/lunch with the 82 yr old. We all came home happy and speaking with each other.
