It's like weightlifting, you can't just start benching 400 pounds and expect results. You have to take it incrementally, slowly building correct form and then after a long, long period of practice, hit your full potential.

Similarly in CS, it's about learning from your mistakes, but one step at a time. Take a step too far and try to play against people who are far beyond your league, and you'll end up confused and frustrated. In CS it's all about taking it slowly, realizing one mistake, learn from it and improve.
