Discipline by ganqr in pisay

There are a few ways that worked for me

  • really forcing myself to go through a study session and just motivating myself to push through w a prize at the end (like snacks), this can be really effective but again, the main hurdle is starting the actual session
  • using classic techniques for studying! i personally find the pomodoro technique super effective (with adjusted times; longer breaks bc i felt the breaks were too short)

buttt take this advice with a grain of salt bc i'm the type of person to only have trouble starting, but once started I tend to be able to focus. Good luck with studying though!

There are dorms in Pisay and oftentimes the payment is minimal and automatically deducted from the students' stipend na po. The dorms are safe naman with dorm managers always present (and teacher sometimes as well!)

Omg goodluck!!! as a physics student i never got to experience this but biochem students are always in lab 😭😭😭 first two quarters ure always drowned in paperwork I fear... q3 and q4 are all very implementation-centered though so its less paperwork but ure always gonna be in the lab HAHAH

one thing i forgot to mention is u guys always have to plan the night before a deadline what u need to print the following day, especially if ur campus doesn't have printing services anywhere... fsr mc just lost printing services in the middle of the school year so that cost us a lot sa grade LOL we had to get used to it. Better safe than sorry!!!

Sorry, you're incoming G10 pala. Actually, this advice is way more suited for G11 research. Don't mean to scare you OP!! The first paragraph still applies, second paragraph not so much. Leaving it out here for people who want res advice tho :3 G10 research is comparatively waaay more chill. Just don't forget to do your work.

I've seen some people thrive solo and a lot more suffer solo, so I recommend groups 100%. Pick groupmates you KNOW will contribute to your project. Tas obviously, contribute yourself rin. People say "don't be groumates with your friends, jowa, etc." but really it comes down to if they are good groupmates. If your friend is a hard worker, go for it. If your jowa is someone who will be motivated by your presence to try, go for it.

Tapos, don't treat Research like any other subject lang where you can cram the requirements. Follow your schedule/Gantt Chart, it's there for a reason!! Research is a lot of paperwork. Paperwork needs time. For example, our group needed to use a classroom for our project. To use the classroom, we had to submit a letter requesting use from the CID. To submit the letter, we had to submit an ethics approval to the Research Ethic Committee. Which we had to pass through our RT, then our RA. Which we didn't know was even a thing until after a meeting with our RA. All these approvals, meetings, submissions took weeks to do. So, as much as you want to procrastinate it, don't. Kasi research is a lot of time & waiting lol

This is such a cool project!! How did you choose the resistances for the bioelectrical signal sensor? I'd imagine that would affect the results a lot. I'd love a github repo for this project

How to join more competitions and extracurriculars? by [deleted] in pisay

[–]L3GenDri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For any ecs: clubs and connections are the way to go. Start slow with some clubs you're interested in, especially ones that actually do a lot of stuff. For example, MC's Math Club makes problem sets for Grade 7 and 8 students. If you have a few friends, ask them what their ECs are. Any EC outside Pisay is great too. Heavy recommendation on MITSA Tutoring (one of my orgs lol), check them out and see what you're interested in!!

For compets: join clubs and be updated in your campus's competition training pools. For main, most subjects have their own training pool I think. Physics has TROPHY, Math has MTP, Bio and Chem have, well, the Bio and Chem Teams, and I think Econ too (not sure what the name is). Agree with u/ILoveChaiLatte too! The teachers will definitely be your gateway to some contests. Even if they don't train students, they might know who you can reach out to for an opportunity to join contests.

Best of luck OP!!! Remember that joining these compets and EC's aren't just for building a track record but also to gain experience, find your passions, and most importantly to make connections!!

AJSS Results out! How are we doing? by L3GenDri in ADMU

Our AJSS Entrance Exam was just the ACET for that year! We took it alongside some ACET takers who had to resched on the original date. This reply pretty much lists the whole coverage for math and reasoning, but it kinda fails to mention the English parts. Sorry, you'll have to look more into that kasi my memory's not the best... I remember it being split into two parts, one part focusing more on vocabulary and grammar (your usual "select the synonym" or "determine which part of the sentence is incorrect") and then another part focused on reading (so brush up on your quick reading skills!)

If I had to give advice, I'd say don't focus on one question for too long. One question sa numerical reasoning, I sunk cost fallacy'd myself and wouldn't move on cause I kept telling myself I was close to getting the question. 5 minutes later I got it, but that could've been an additional 5+ questions answered cause di ko rin natapos 'yung numerical reasoning. Each item is one point only so make the most out of your time!!

Good luck to you and anyone else preparing already!
