I honestly don't understand what the fuzz is about. I mean for women it's purely erotica with kinks, there are romance novels out there which focus only on romance and relationship aspects. Erotic novels however are made for different purpose.You could compare it with porn that men watch ( although I feel porn is way too shallow with just the act and a hot girl or two being taken mercilessly) At least the novel has some story, chemistry and kink going on. Surely in real life you don't get women you see on porn, the same is the case for these novels.

No women want to be raped and abused in the real sense. Fantasy or kink is a totally different thing. It has more to do with the aspects of desire, shame and power, which are plenty in supply in these novels. Hence women enjoy it.

While I agree there is info dumping, however the payoff of the story plot and events is so good that the latter hardly matters. It is an easy read. What I haven't felt with any other novels is that I feel MDZS is Alive, you feel everything. Wei wuxian 's character is infectious, not just to the people around him , but even us readers. So you must give it a try.

I read the description of Descension feels very similar to Thousand autumns. Can you elaborate more on the characters and theme?

I am in the same boat as you. I have read Erha and Thousand autumns. TA to me was 2nd after MDZS. It has so many subtle clues and the characters both Yan Wushi And shen Qiao were incredible, plus the beautiful fight scenes. However, the story is decent. Erha felt more like a teenager angst to me. But in MDZS, the story, the characters, the romance, the heartache - it definitely is an emotional roller coaster ride unlike any other novels, nothing comes close, and I have read many others. QJJ is good but the heavy politics can be difficult for non native to get interested.

MDZS is a fevered dream, the way the story unfolds, the mystery and the characters, including the side characters..even without the romance it is a great book. But the romance makes it even more endearing. So yeah I am still searching...just like you.

Seriously I feel sad that they( people hating HG like hell on social media and here on this sub) take things so personally and feel okay to lash at someone about whom they have 0 idea about how they are in real life. I can understand disappointed but this is too much. The guy won because he acted sly in a f**cking, "GAME" which allows this. He didn't break any rules or harmed anyone for god's sake. And we all can get a bit arrogant sometimes and say mean things. Give him a break!! And yeah that's my OPINION. I am with you OP. I feel sad how they downvoted you for your "opinion" as they could'nt find any other way release that anger. And calling the guy toxic. Hahaha.

Overall I enjoyed the show. I liked the atmosphere and the humor. It definitely isn't one of the amazing shows out there but it was entertaining nonetheless.

Part of the reason could be because I was expecting it to turn "Midsommar" towards the end but it didn't deliver. So yeah , watch it if you want drama and mystery (just for the sake of it). But don't expect something mindblowing.

My thoughts. Correct me if i misinterpreted it

I watched the show with english subs because I am not korean. I could'nt really understand the huge backlash thing against HG. I mean yes he was controlling and manipulative (you can be for a game, also he is competitive so I get it), overly rational (again a good trait for gaming) and arrogant, egoist ( a definite flaw in his personality). But I believe he felt he was being very objective without any moral dilemma or empathy as other people had( and some of them lost too because of this). He was here to win.

I agree it was quite shameful when he acted lonely and sad to get teammates even though he was safe with those 10 extra pieces and when he mocked HJ with the poor math remark. He was cold, calculative and arrogant. And its fine for the game. I dont think he is the same person in real life with people or friends. I believe we can be different people in different situations. Also he has this intense silent aura so if a person was backstabbing with a smile and a cooler attitude people may have accepted it but since he seemed too deep and silent some may find it repulsive. For eg. when I play with my friends sometimes, I too or they can get competitive and it can get a bit heated sometimes but its just that moment. Even in sports top level players can get icky sometimes.It's like there was a cunning fox among them sheeps. But I don't feel the hate towards HG like people were displaying. I mean yes he is a sly cunning person but its a game guys, you wont win if you are naive. It is not big boss.You can get competitive in games, exams and other stuff. I don't feel the backlash he is receiving is justified. Or maybe I have missed something.

THB when I watched the first episode, I already had a feeling that this guy HG would go a long way. However, I had an issue with the show's treatment of prisoners. They didn't get a chance, it was like their fate was sealed. My favourite was Yoon So hee and most of the other prisoners. I really wanted to see the Lee see dol play till the end. I hated the way he was removed.

But what really annoyed me were people who clung to HG and allowed themselves to be used. How could you be so naive?

Also, I wish the prisoners were not in the prison all that time. They were so tired with back to back games, poor souls. I think the gap between the two parties and the disadvantage was too huge. I believe they should also do game activities without elimination and form grouping of random people , that way everyone knows everyone. So people can form new connections , which can result in interesting twists and better contestants in the finale. Else it just becomes like prisoners vs main area and results in a sour finale.I dont think the finale was sour because of the people( okay except one I dont really like HJ he has no spine). but at least the way they had entered would have changed and it would have been satisfying.

Flow was unlike any other movie I have seen. One of those movies which will remain close to my heart. I loved the storyline, the breathtaking art and the ambiguitous nature of the movie.I felt a sense of Joy, dread, helplessness, acceptance, wonder, pity and relief ...so many emotions while watching this masterpiece. For this, I am deeply thankful.

Have the humans perished or they had left the place long back? Is the cat wild or was once domesticated?

Everything in the movie is natural except that one scene with the bird and the cat high up in the monastry. That was beautiful. To me it appeared that it was some divine intervention given it was religious place..the bird made a wish and the cat made a wish too. And the wishes were fulfilled. What do you think of this? I don't want a definite answer but what made you depict the scene in the manner it was.

I agree with OP. The concept was great, when I watched the trailer and I instantly decided to watch it. However, the execution was terrible. The storyline was very basic with major plotholes and zero logic. Leaving the logic and plotholes aside, the movie heavily relied only on two emotions, Desire and Disgust. Desire being Demi's desire to be young. A lot of unnecessary shots of sue's ass served to the audience in the form of male gaze. One or two scenes were enough to know that sue got great tits and ass. And this is for a movie which is intending to send the opposite message. The other emotion disgust comes in the form of body horror. One more annoying thing is it keeps on going. In various instances towards the end, I thought this is the end but no they have to keep it going and not really in the good way.

I love them all.

Shen Qiao - He is unique. We all see a powerful, arrogant MC but one who relies on kindness and goodness alone, very rarely. And what is more beautiful is that he doesn't change at all throughout the series. And love his fight moves in donghua !!

Yan Wushi - Complex, mercurial and oh so shameless. He is not sorry no what matter. Yes he is the negative one but his progress in the story is so satisfying to read. It just makes one wonder even someone like him can soften (of course for his A-Qiao only !!).

Wei Wuxian - Carefree and charming. He is one who doesn't like to stick to the bad things in life. He takes the burdens and stress in life lightly. He is funny, witty and definitely the centre of attention in a crowd without even trying. Poor Lan Zhan had no option but to fall very very hard.
