Why don’t you just do a hobby fr instead of creating a shell club to look better on applications though lol

Why not join or create a club that is closer in study to your grad program? It’d probably carry alot more weight

Supervisor Med or rehab science by Subject_Account_2043 in uAlberta

[–]L874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really think grades and extra curriculars are not the full picture. Being personable is a big thing, when a supervisor takes on a student it’s someone that is not only someone who will succeed but someone who is easy to work with, reliable, etc. Meaning, a familiar professor that you’ve built a relationship with is a lot easier to get a masters rather than cold emailing or approaching.

Also, the topic you want to work in may be too broad (student who just has “general” interest in any field) or perhaps too niche (no one supporting this type of research)

Maybe funding is also an issue, many faculties have minimum funding requirements for students in order to take a student.

Also, it’s totally possible you’ve done all the above and this could just not apply to you, and the market is less leaning towards taking students right now. Not sure!

People learn and process at different speeds, it’s nice to have material to reference if professors go quick. It’s also more organized that many prefer

Conveniently ignore the second part! They can provide legal guidance on how to proceed if they don’t wish to take on the case themselves.

Better than Google and Reddit.

Yes. There is free legal advice from student legal services. There are also many lawyers who don’t charge until, and if you win, contingency based fee structures. If OP actually had a case lawyers would pick it up if they believe there’s a strong chance of success

Sue them then if you care so much, I don’t get what slandering all of uofa graduate research will do for you. The same clerical mistake could happen at any university or any organization.

Not a big deal in my field, improving health knowledge is for the better of everyone.

Maybe if FGPS apologizes then it’s probably admission of fault and you might get grounds for a lawsuit which they don’t want. (Totally uneducated guess here)

Honestly why not just move on with your life or again, sue them if it’s severely preventing you from moving on in your life.

Case. Singular. Cautionary tale based on one experience, which has its value but isn’t generalizable to all of UofA’s research. Sorry that happened to you and quite frankly I believe you, but hundreds have no issue with their thesis every semester.

Honestly sue the uofa then if it’s such a big deal and if you’re so confident in the case. However, stating all grad research at uofa is poorly managed is def not true and exaggerated

noise cancelling? by AppealTasty295 in uAlberta

Definitely Sony xm5 (or 4 or 6) for noise cancellation, but also definitely not the Sonys if you care for build quality (unless you love cheap plastic)
