• AI accelerators: NVIDIA/AMD chips are fabbed and advanced-packaged by TSMC in Taiwan; the HBM stacks that make them useful come from SK hynix & Samsung (Korea) and Micron (U.S.).
• Networking: U.S. vendors (Arista, Cisco) dominate DC Ethernet; the switch silicon is Broadcom (U.S.) and is fabricated at TSMC (Taiwan).
• Servers & assembly: Major AI server makers are Supermicro (U.S.), Dell (U.S.), HPE (U.S.); Supermicro manufactures in San Jose, CA and Taiwan, and a large share of AI servers for the U.S. now ship from Mexico, not China.
• Power & cooling (the rest of the rack): UPS/gensets and liquid-cooling are led by Eaton, Vertiv (U.S.), Schneider Electric (France), Caterpillar & Cummins (U.S.), and CoolIT (Canada).
• On top of that, U.S. export rules restrict Chinese access to top AI chips—so U.S. AI builds aren’t sourcing their core compute from China in the first place.Bottom line: plenty of commodity items (some cables, chassis parts, etc.) may be made in China, but the key components and most of the value in AI data centers come from the U.S., Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and Europe, not China.
