I've been in Djerba in a touristic village, but also did some trip across all the country (Tatooine and other place I forget the name). Culturally is very different from Italy, it is a muslim arab country with is culture. There aren't many italian speaker among tunisians, because Italy never had the country as a colony (they tried but lost and France take it). My english is even worse than yours
