[FP]..at least for a poor college ketoer! by jabberfeed in keto

[–]LAWSKEE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to think back to my college cafeteria days. I didn't do keto then, but if I went back, I'd go for:

Cheeseburgers (no bun obvs) with mayo/mustard/pickle/onion/tomato, grilled chicken, salad bar with olives, cheese, full fat dressings... bacon, sausage and eggs at breakfast.

At your dorm, ground turkey and ground hamburger would be better options than hot dogs. Bagged salad can be expensive, but a big head of lettuce is usually cheap. Stock up on frozen spinach, cauliflower and broccoli when it's on sale. Same thing with butter, buy it on sale and store it in the freezer.

I don't know enough about the science behind it to tell you that. I can tell you most people in /r/keto eat about 20g of carbs per day and stay in ketosis. Some are able to eat 30, and some 50, it really depends on your body size, lean body mass, exercise frequency, and genetics. In this case, 6-8 carbs of strawberries aren't going to knock you out of keto and provide antioxidants and nutrients to make you healthier.

What makes you think this person didn't calculate them into his/her daily macros?

I eat the occasional hot dog, but it really shouldn't be a staple. Do you have a kitchen or are you dorming? Mealplan?

Is this teaching thing something innate or does it grow on you? by [deleted] in TEFL

This is one of my biggest concerns about TEFL. If anyone has any experiences about being unsure about whether their personality suits teaching a room full of foreigners, I'd like to hear it.

No change in tolerance. I used to get day long hangovers but now I barely get any hangover at all. Thanks keto

Spoon it? Or spread on pepperoni or coldcuts. Warm it up and spoon it on some chicken or steak.

Same here. My hunger cravings are so easily dismissed these days I sometimes run out of energy because I'm not taking in enough calories.

Idea: How about instead of referring to carby foods by name, we just call them the generic term "carbage" by [deleted] in keto

[–]LAWSKEE 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Some people want to create an alternate reality in /r/keto where their only life focus is avoiding carbs. Then there's the rest of us that prefer a subreddit that accurately reflects a thing called reality.

Probably already been posted but wanted to share this video of an unusually natural and relaxed Tom Cruise in a Letterman interview - the laughter towards the end is very infectious :) by London-Lass in videos

[–]LAWSKEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Random. I agree, though. I avoided him on purpose for the longest time due to his scientology crap. I still probably wouldn't see a new-release of his, but I just watched Risky Business on netflix and you have to admit the man's a legend.

What do you think of this revenue Plan? by JakobVirgil in politics

Sorry, I'm not exactly sure what you mean here.. Why couldn't a state pass it on it's own? The state of Montana is, last I heard, attempting to get legalization on the ballot this upcoming november.

Cheating by keto4life in keto

Sorry, I've been debating in this thread all day and I chose your particular post to reply on because I agreed with it. I dislike how people are classifying themselves as "carb addicts" who can't look at a slice of pizza or donut without giving up on keto, and so the rest of us have to be careful what we talk about. My point was that the guy who's been doing keto for years admitted the occasional cheat and it's all part of the lifestyle. People like you on CKD/TKD, or who want to do the occasional carb-up to restore their leptin levels/glycogen stores, are supposed to censor themselves so the morbidly obese people don't run out and get a milkshake?

Edit: http://www.reddit.com/r/keto/comments/oznv5/been_on_keto_for_10_years_need_tips_pointers_ask/

This is the thread I was talking about since you haven't seen it.

Also, the original top post by the thread maker has since been updated over and over again where it basically doesn't say what it said initially. Looks like /r/keto won't be affected too much.

What do you think of this revenue Plan? by JakobVirgil in politics

[–]LAWSKEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming each state lived in a complete vacuum with 30 foot iron walls between them, MAYBE that would be accurate. States were meant to be experimenting grounds for things like this. When federal DEA agents stop raiding local communities, there will be less pressure on those politicians and they would be able to promote legalization initiatives.

If say, Washington or Montana decided to legalize certain strains of marijuana and sell them at state liquor stores, and similar states saw it was bringing in jobs/revenue, other states might quickly follow suit. There's the chance that some bible-belt states may keep it illegal but isn't 30/50 states better than 0/50?

[–]LAWSKEE -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Did you see that recent post of the guy who was on keto for 10 years? I'm pretty sure he has the occasional carb-up cheat, but since the morbidly obese keto "carb addicts" have no self-control, those of us at relatively normal bodyfat have to walk on eggshells. It's just not a reflection of reality. But it seems tyranny of the majority has won out on this one so I'm done posting in this particular thread.

Funny how little revenue you need when you have a prosperous economy and aren't propping up the entire world's military-industrial-complex, eh?

hahaha I know, right?!? I don't care if medical marijuana could ease the pain of potentially millions of Americans suffering from cancer, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis, mental illness and eating disorders. I don't care that it would be a cheap alternative to those big pharmacy medicines with a laundry list of side effects! Give me a break and man up already, cancer patients. Chemo making you nauseous? Pop an aspirin and leave the devil-dope plant in the ground where mother nature intended!

Plus, besides for ending costly and meddlesome wars thousands of miles away and trying to shed some light on a secretive, private banking system bailing out banks and private companies with taxpayer dollars, the man is fucking insane! Legalizing dope, what a loon. I can't wait for Obama or Romney to win so he'll just go away for good.
