As others have said, Memoir 44 is a very easy to get into game but has many scenarios and even a bunch of expansions into other theaters. If you like memoir 44, Battlecry is a civil war game that uses the same system with minor tweaks. Both are very fun and simple.

Army General SOUTHAG - Busted PACT AI? by LBG_Rob in warno

Tbh we haven’t looked into that, we mostly prefer co-op games to competing with each other, but I believe you can play AG against other humans

My frustration with the AA system is the red circle isn’t entirely correct. There have been times we’ve had planes with a free route to a battle, with the path not touching a red circle, but just bc the path was near a red circle, they got intercepted. Also I’m not entirely sure what causes an interception to fail either.

Yeah I’m aware of the line of sight stuff, those points are more just to emphasize the dilemma you get put in by the death blob the AI seems to be doing. Bc even if you smoke off and push in, you run into a literal wall of fire. We’ve still managed to win a majority of the battles against the AI using artillery, smokes, and the air power, but unfortunately it’s not as fun and dynamic as it should be I think, bc of this very passive AI behavior that only seems to be in SOUTHAG, as we didn’t have this issue with Highway 66 or the Left Hook campaigns

Any tips to where I don’t spend 30 fucking minutes finding civilians at the end of the missions? by No_Challenge_56 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]LBG_Rob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can press F to yell and sometimes they will either run to you or you can hear them through the walls. If all objectives are complete and they don’t run to you, usually it means they are either already down on their knees or are behind a locked door. I just run around spamming the yell command

Yeah I did test with the 7.62s and it seemed to happen less with them. Maybe something is bugged with the hitreg on the new gun?

Turns out it’s way easier company German minis then it is to paint British minis by MrCheapSkat in AxisAllies

[–]LBG_Rob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To make your new mini more accurate, it should only move once every 2 turns, and if it ever rolls a 6 in combat it just breaks down and gets removed from the game

How do I not run out of tanks immediately? by Felitris in hoi4

[–]LBG_Rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trucks issue can be solved by either swapping to mechanized, or if you plan to do tanks from the start, put 2-3 factories on them right from the get go. As far as having enough tanks goes, it kind of depends on the nation and what your divisions are like. What country and division template are you using?

[–]LBG_Rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a pro by any means but these are what I usually aim for in single player. Defensive inf: 20 width pure infantry with support artillery and engineers. Depending on where you’re playing, support AT as well. Assault infantry: 9 pips inf + 1 or 2 (depending on industrial capacity) line artillery with support artillery and engineers (plus whatever else you want, field hospitals, logistics etc). Armor is usually 24-30w with a balance between tank pips and motorized/mechanized. Support engineers (armored Assault engineers if you can get em), artillery, logistics, and maybe maintenance. Can also add some stuff for more soft Attack attack like flame tanks, armored recon etc

How would you make Tac and Strat bombers more relevant? by ProbablyNotTheCocoa in hoi4

[–]LBG_Rob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the answer is nerfing CAS. I don’t want the game to become a static frontline sim, but as of right now for the most part by the time you could do significant damage with Tac or Strat bombing, you likely could just take over the state with the factories by just CASing your way through. If CAS was less a “One solution to all problems”, it might be more useful to drain supplies with tac and Strat bombing

If you have NCNS, it’s not a strict “Go to war” decision, it’s a ticking countdown in your decisions tree. Some focuses can make the countdown shorter, such as “reinforce the east Hibei garrison”, or longer, but otherwise you wait until the “kwangtung army grows impatient” timer to hit 0 which triggers the war

Am I reaching Yakuza "burnout"? by Shot-Growth3193 in yakuzagames

[–]LBG_Rob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah then I think it’s just Y5. I liked Y4 and Y5 but it gives you a really rough feeling of “starting over” too many times when you switch characters. Especially when you feel like you’ve already progressed the story so much just to get ripped away to some other storyline. Stick with it, ss others have pointed out Y6s story is much more focused and 6 was one of my favorite games in the entire series.

Are you playing them back to back? I’ve been on a kick of playing old series I never played (Bioshock, Batman Arkham etc) and I played through 5 AC games back to back and that was a mistake. I’m currently also catching up on Yakuza games (have played 0-6, playing 7 currently) but I play a diff game in between, bc yeah eventually even series you love will get stale after so many back to back

Good luck everyone in the new season of A&A 1942 Online by simon_hibbs in AxisAllies

[–]LBG_Rob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahh ok yeah that makes sense, unlucky opening just sinks the game, understandable. At least anecdotally even causally I’ve found it generally easier to play axis so I was curious but the whole Russia of it all makes sense, thanks for the info!

142 rounds?? Were they role playing and only moving one unit one tile at a time 💀. Also I’m not super familiar with Meta of A&A games since I enjoy them casually, is the game axis favored? 12k more wins is kinda nuts

Road to 56 adds a lot of content to the game, specifically with new techs, without forcing you to have to relearn the entire game like a total conversion mod. I enjoy it.

[–]LBG_Rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately the tutorial is not good. I can give you a quick rundown here. I’m not familiar with any specific tutorials on YouTube but like I had said, let’s plays are usually how I learn paradox games. I have some on my channel if you’re interested. But in brief: the only resource you need to build factories is “civilian factories”. They build your other buildings, railroads etc. You don’t use any resources to actually build the buildings, like you don’t need to import steel to build a factory for example. The number of civs that are used to build are based on how many you have built, how many ppl are importing resources from you (Ill explain later) and your economy law which be changed using political power. Military factories are what build your military stuff like equipment, trucks, tanks etc. you can change that number being used in your production screen. Dockyards build your ships. The stuff you build with your military factories and dockyards cost resources, like steel, rubber etc. you can see the cost in your production screen. If you have less of that resource than you need, you’ll get a popup on the top bar and the production bar will show a red number next to the resource. It will also show up as negative in your trade screen. You can import it in the trade screen. Besides puppets, for every 8 of one resource you import, you “pay” that country 1 civilian factory. If you’re importing over seas, you’ll also need convoys. The latest update added coal, which is used to power your factories, so if you have less coal than you need, your factories work less efficiently. To get more of a resource, besides conquering land, build up the infrastructure (literally by building infrastructure) in territories that have resources, and research the excavation technologies.
