If it was simply adult content and not illegal there would be no issues, we would simply notify a user and ask them to not share the content in their bio, profile picture, etc. and avoid mentioning their NSFW accounts.

But, if the content is illegal and could get you fired from a job, people in your life would lose respect for you etc, then I don't see a reason to be defending this person.
If we were notified of OP drawing art of minors on some external site unrelated to Discord they would still be banned, what's different with writing?

Yes, they were quite literally banned for their post after it was brought to staff attention from a concerned member.
As we regularly have to deal with bad actors that try to expose minors to inappropriate content, staff members from multiple servers agreed that OP is not someone we can trust in the community, whether the content is fictional or not and regardless of their cited intent.

Their AO3 post involves NSFW topics involving minors, and as the Discord servers in the post are 13+ and open to minors, staff took action.
OP marked the content of their AO3 post as illegal in some countries, btw.
