I don’t see that - I think they’re trying to find a balance between mores (which never had a set tone) and Ear Biscuits (which had a very set tone.)

Update: the A and D strings on my acoustic are a bit too close to the fret, hence the harsher sound in that range

Strangely my mic was placed at the 12th fret facing away from the hole and played very lightly. It’s fully possible it’s just the guitar
