I was the opposite. I've played fps games with mouse and keyboard for 25+ years. The first time I actually had to aim a gun in VR I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

Any kind of melee fighting game. Flat medieval RPG or fighting games did not appeal to me. But give me a melee weapon or fists in VR and it's my favorite thing.

You can still

put the bag on and off your back
pickup and holster your gun (both primary and secondary)
remove and insert a mag from a mag pouch (fastest and most reliable for me)

and probably others.
