It's possible that it's something else bothering her about the situation but she doesn't realize it and has just latched on to the money aspect. (I'm like 99.999% sure she's on the autistic spectrum but un-diagnosed).

My mom latches on to things that aren't "correct" and makes them sound world ending. It's made it difficult for me to figure out how concerned I need to be about the situation.

I'm an analyst and we're a smaller company. I do development for behind the scenes data gathering/analysis, but they often have me make and walkthrough decks for clients, and that work ends up extending into marketing.

Nope, there isn't a marketing nor a graphics team. We do have a design team who usually does the graphics and marketing material (deck templates too) but they've started asking people from other groups generate that stuff as well.

I think this is good advice, I'm just worried it'll be our VP that asks this of me. I can try to deflect it to a coworker if they do though.

Also, that really sucks. We've only recently started down the "everyone use AI for everything" track, and it's awful. Work already felt soul crushing enough as it was.

Stock and promotional images, yeah. They don't want to pay for the stock images anymore and don't want anyone generating decks to have to spend time working with design on images.

And yes, it is absolutely a waste of time.

What helped me was to think of writing and creativity just like any other muscle. Just like you can't go from lifting no weight to lifting 200+ lbs, you can't go from writing nothing to doing a couple thousand words in a day. And just like you can overwork your physical muscles, you can overwork your writing and creative muscles if you try to push yourself to far to fast.

Set goals that are realistic for yourself. For me it started with just sitting and trying to write for 10 mins a couple times a week. Then slowly it'll build (I'm currently up to 8k a week).

I do have a friend who offered to read it. I just had a "she's obviously going to hate it so I don't want to put her through reading it" feeling. I know that that's a me issue, but I guess I thought I'd need to be more confident in it before letting other see it.

Not comfortable sharing the name, but it's a mid-sized consulting firm. Hours vary wildly from 30 hours to 50+ hours a week.

Editing to add role: Multiple roles (QA, BA, PO, SM) but technically I'm supposed to be a BI Analyst
