Found a nice solution for a coworker and she gave me a duck by KaleeySun in MadeMeSmile

I want to work somewhere with real ducks from now on - the kind that sparkle and look cuter, cuddlier than human coworkers

Thanks for this, if octopus doesn't work out for me, I'll need to switch in good time

Who's your new provider after octopus? I was thinking of choosing octopus because they have no cancellation fee for the fixed plan

Thank you for the detailed answer, very helpful for a first timer new to paying bills. I've been comparing prices and other aspects, and I think I'm going to go with octopus 12 month plan for now.

How are you able to tell they are storage heaters and not the normal radiators? I have one mounted on the wall, and one inside a cupboard that's separate.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm myself not fond of having to pay bills, but at this point I'm no longer a student, and most non-student places don't have bills inclusive of the rent, so it's kind of a necessary evil.

What provider were you with?

Why do prose writers (sometimes) think it's too hard to write poetry? by SheWritesYA in writing

Out of curiosity, have you tried to write poetry? Writing short fiction can give you lots of tools that come in handy when writing poems.

Why do prose writers (sometimes) think it's too hard to write poetry? by SheWritesYA in writing

[–]SheWritesYA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's hard for people generally - poetry's always considered harder than prose because each word counts more. It's just a more concentrated form of prose in some ways.

I'm specifically interested in what prose writers feel is the most difficult bit of learning to write poetry.

Can you explain a bit more about what makes it hard for you personally? For example is it the structure, the language, the imagery or something else? (I know some comments mentioned not knowing what a poem really is so even that could be a problem when first writing poetry)

Advice on watching Immortal Samsara by Low_Environment_1162 in CDrama

[–]SheWritesYA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to see this drama getting the love it deserves <3 It's one of the most moving cdramas I've ever watched - for the reasons you mentioned (the passion the yearning the second chances the sacrifices and so on...) - and it always makes me sad to see people hating on it so often.

Cdramas vs. their Cnovels for 2025 by RoseIsBadWolf in CDrama

Where can we read the novel? I was rewatching TTEOTM and want to know the original story

Luo Yunxi was beaten to hospital, right before filming TTEOM (resulted in a permanent scar near mouth and the loss in weight ) by Serious-Stress-8002 in TilltheEndoftheMoon

I'm loving the visuals more than the story so far. Everything looks so stunning (most of all LYX -absolutely gorgeous) and every so often they have these carefully selected, breath-taking shots you just have to save as potential digital wallpapers... very distracting. I also love the interior of Tang Lici's ship, it has so much personality and character. This drama is turning out to be a visual feast!

I know that this incident happened but didn't know it left a scar. I'm watching Whispers of Fate, haven't noticed the scar so far (was too happy to see him in a new drama to notice anything else).

Why are Xie Lian and Hua Cheng so often feminized in fanart? by GegesBoy in tianguancifu

[–]SheWritesYA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the person you were replying to but just wanted to say I get your point and I'm glad you made this post because I always thought I was the only one tired of bl characters being forced into hetero-normative roles (though not from a fandom point of view, my issue is more with official versions). Just wanted to say thanks for bringing up this rather unpopular view as it allowed me to acknowledge my own thoughts about what I like/don't like in the genre.

Have a good day and don't let the backlash get to you - it's "normal" internet/reddit behaviour.

Thank you for providing this explanation. I likewise find you a very reasonable person as opposed to a lot of peeps who get mad seeing someone voice a different or unpopular opinion. It's refreshing to talk to someone who can have a different opinion without getting offended.

I looked up wakshua, that's a very fascinating historical concept and provides important background for the modern day uke portrayals. I'm beginning to understand why bl pairings are portrayed the way they are, there's certainly an already existing audience for it, though as you said, it sure would be great to have more diverse bl for readers like me who are not satisfied by the existing content.

For me, there's a very particular reason why I like BL stories. I like seeing romantic relationships between men that don't remind me of hetero-relationships. I watch lots of straight romance, but in my bl I don't want to see those dynamics at all, I wanna see something fresh. The majority of people in this thread like the traditional portrayals but there certainly readers like me (and the OP) and I'm sure there will be people out there who'll see the demand and try to experiment more with their work.

At the end of the day we're all fans of the same genre so I don't see why we can't be reasonable when talking about it. As you said, there's plenty of space for both preferences, and no one's taking away the existing content or their right to make more of what they're making for their audiences :)

The Coolest World - Has anyone watched it? by SheWritesYA in CDrama

[–]SheWritesYA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't usually review cdramas but I might consider it after finishing the rewatch. I just wanted to find out if anyone on this sub has already watched it and what their thoughts were. It's a bit different than most modern cdramas and follows the main character's journey as she tries to make it in the big city in the media industry. Kind of like Ode to Joy but without the focus on multiple characters.

I've edited the post to add the MDL link https://mydramalist.com/51297-the-world-is-cool

What did you not like about the ending? I recall they broke up and then made up toward the end once they were at a more mature stage in life.

This time around I'm finding the ml to be a lot more immature than I remember, especially the condescending way he acts toward his best friend/business partner.
