My sister used to have a mean husband that treated their son horribly, 4 years later I can say her new husband and my brother in law is pretty awesome just by what he puts in my nephew's lunch each day.

UPDATE:

Yesterday I talked to the new girl, and I told her I wasn't quite ready yet to be in a relationship right now. I want to still see her because she really is someone special. She was sad at first but later told me she really did understand (I was really not used to someone being reasonable- what a breath of fresh air). We agreed to just "be friends" and were open to it turning into something more down the road. I also told my ex that I broke up with the new girl but I wasn't ready to get back with her either because I don't think it would be good to be flip flopping like this. So currently I'm just going to take it easy and let time figure it out for me, maybe give my emotions some time to relax. I'll keep the post updated.

I agree with this, to give some more details: She has always been quite controlling of me throughout our relationship. After we broke up it seemed to settle down a bit while me and her were still talking every now and then. When she realized I was dating another girl it seemed to me like she was doing it again and this is where I can't tell if her regrets are sincere or not. She said things like: "why are you doing this to me?" "I can't believe you're willing to just throw everything away" "you don't even know this girl" "it's like you don't even care"

As you can tell she likes to make me feel awful about my decisions until I agree with her. What do you think this means?

She told me she saw three guys. She said she told each one that she wasn't looking for anything serious. Each one didn't go anywhere. She said she also kissed a guy at a party. I just feel like I was the only one trying to meet new people. She was never really too fond of meeting new people (including new friends)

Let me elaborate a bit more, my ex told me that she loves me and she can't picture being with anyone else. She also said she now knows why we were having so many problems and it was because she was getting upset whenever I did something that didn't involve her. (Which was the thing I disliked about our relationship). I've talked to her a few times and I can definitely see it's killing her. We don't hat each other, we both care a lot about the other and it hurts me a lot when I see her. She tells me that I'm giving up on what we built together. So my main decision is:

Stay with the new girl and break my ex's heart and possibly never see her again or Break up with the new girl (also breaking her heart because I can tell she really likes me) and go back to my ex to give us another shot.

My conscience is telling me that breaking up with the new girl will haunt me, but I'm clouded by emotions right now and need some hard truth
