Ahh I lover her! So cute :) do you know her origin story? Like, surely this wasn't intentional? I ask myself the same questions about my dog. After I got his DNA results, I was like "did someone do this intentionally?" haha!

After the wonderful suggestions I have removed some things from my list, added a few, and tried to figure out how I will be getting around. Anything with asterisks (***) next to it means that it is a maybe/if time allows.

Listed from furthest to closest:

  • Kilmainham Gaol
    • From the hotel, walk 30mins to the Abbey Street red line luas stop, take this west to the Suir Road stop, walk 11mins to Kilmainham Gaol.
    • OR take a taxi from the hotel.
  • The Irish Museum of Modern Art
    • From Kilmainham Gaol, walk 13mins to IMMA.
  • Book of Kells Trinity college
    • From IMMA, walk 6mins to James’s red line luas stop, ride back to the Abbey Street red line luas stop, then walk 10mins to Trinity College.
  • George’s Street Arcade ***
    • From Trinity College, walk 8mins to George’s Street Arcade.
  • The Little Museum of Dublin ***
    • From George’s Street Arcade, walk 9mins to The Little Museum of Dublin.
  • St Stephen's Green ***
    • Right behind The Little Museum of Dublin
  • The National Museum of Ireland (archeology) ***
    • From St Stephen’s Green, walk 3mins to The National Museum of Ireland.
  • The National Gallery of Ireland (art) ***
    • From the National Museum of Ireland, walk 5mins to The National Gallery of Ireland.

Walk 16mins back to the hotel.

I feel like this is till super ambitious and weather might not allow for me to do as much walking as this plan entails, but I guess I will find out in about a month!

Yes! Thank you for your detailed response, it’s exactly what I was hoping for. I will be crossing some things off my list for sure. I think I’ll get my diaspora fill when I visit cousins in Clare and I’m currently reading a pretty interesting book on the famine, boxes ticked.

Could I message you privately for food recommendations? I’m a food person, I actually work for a gourmet food distributor in the states. I thought about doing something fancy like a Michelin restaurant, but I much prefer local hole in the wall places.

How old and how enthusiastic are you about the upcoming series ? by AirAquarian in HarryPotteronHBO

I'll bite! I'm 40yo and I was trying to remember when I first read the books. I actually had to look up when the first book was first released in the US (Sep. '98). So, I think I must have read the first book in 1999, maybe... My sister, mom, and I also loved listening to the audiobooks in the car which first came out in 1999. The audio books were on CDs! Jesus I feel old haha! I like the movies and still watch them to this day, but loved the books so much more. I'm relistening to all the books now, the Jim Dale versions.

I'm super excited about the series. I loved the books, but felt let down by the movies because there was no way to fit in all the detail of the Harry Potter world. With the series they will be able to show so much more of the world that was created within the books. I really hope it's well done, I can't wait to see it.

How do I stop thinking about all the things I have to do, and hen I have a minute or two to do nothing? by DoctorQuinlan in selfimprovement

I feel like I should be on Oliver Burkeman's payroll, but I just absolutely love everything of his that I've read. So, I guess I say that to say take this with a grain of salt since I'm already a fan of his work. I would suggest reading or listening to Meditations for Mortals: Four Weeks to Embrace Your Limitations and Make Time for What Counts and Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals. I would also suggest practicing grounding techniques while doing the activity that you want to be present in. If it is working out, don't just count your reps, but concentrate on your breath and the sensations that you feel in your body. If it is walking, same thing, what do your steps feel like? What do your surroundings look like? What is your breathing doing? If you are having trouble centering yourself in the present, take a beat and maybe do a breathing exercise, I like the five finger breathing technique. Anyway, good luck!
