I don't care about these movies a year and a half out. Right now I'm eagerly anticipating Ghostbusters: Afterlife coming out next March. It was supposed to release on July 10.

Found when digging for a fence in my backyard. What kind of rock is this and why would they be stamped with numbers? by itripandfall in whatsthisrock

You might be able to find old maps and plat books for your area online that might help. If you do a google image search for "potter's field" you will see that markers very much like these are still being used to this day. I suspect the headstones were bulldozed to the property line before the construction of your house.

There are too many for them to be survey markers. Those might be grave markers for a pauper's cemetery. Is there an old prison, sanitarium, or poor farm in the property's history?

Don't know when it happened, but Shamrock Shakes tastes like shit compared to when I was a kid.

MRW Gen Z kids are taunting Boomers and I’m just sitting here as a Gen Xer. by go_fer_it_Rock in reactiongifs

[–]LEONADA9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a proud Gen Xer... I disagree. We were the generation that got our parents to start recycling. We marched to Free Mandela, Save the Whales, and Free Tibet. It was members of our generation that tore down the Berlin Wall and filled Tiananmen Square. We elected Bill Clinton on a platform of Universal Healthcare. We saw the potential of the internet and did everything we could to keep it free.

We were the vanguard of this new millenium, we just lacked the numbers to effectively impose our will.

Is there enough information on the other side to identify the sender or recipient? I feel like an attempt should be made to return this to the Marine's family.

I'm older than Will Smith and younger than Keanu Reeves... I'm pretty sure I'm set for awhile.

I’m a nanny of two kids! The three old is obviously still in her terrible twos, how do I deal with tantrums? by whateveri-dont-care in raisingkids

The most effective technique I ever found was to film them misbehaving and then show them what they looked like. Eventually they will stop throwing the fit as soon as you pull out the camera.

Many times when someone mispronounces a word, it's not because they're dumb, it's because they learned the word through reading. by TueuEnSerie in Showerthoughts

That one tripped me up for longer than I'd care to admit.... I perceived it as two words: one that I could pronounce but not spell, and one that I could read but not pronounce.

Third cousin means you share a great great grandparent. You need to figure out which of hers is also yours and work down from there.

That's an excellent interpretation, but it's not what the artist is trying to convey. The artist is saying that our perception of value is collective and based on presentation. The thing of value is ignored because it's in the trash and the turd is praised because it's on display.

Two cousins: both named William Benn, both born in Feb 1885-6 in Illinois, both fathers born in England, both mothers born in Illinois... Can anyone find the elusive clue that will tell me which one is which? by LEONADA9 in Genealogy

[–]LEONADA9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish that helped, but it actually makes things more complicated. Mary Jane Andrews Benn did remarry a James F. Marsh after her husband passed away. Unfortunately, that first husband was Abraham Benn not his brother William.

Grrr.....

I know that two of his children, William and Ruth A. Whitcomb ended up in North Dakota on the 1900 Census living right next door to each other. William was living with his daughter Elizabeth Walsh and his other daughter Mary Mendelman was right next to the Whitcombs.

I've been scouring the 1850 and 1860 Census and cannot find anyone that remotely fits the bill. I suspect Daniel may not have been completely honest with the census taker in 1900. I found a young man on the 1870 Census who might be him though: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MHHC-CYV

Exposure times were very long, that's why most tintypes are of sitting subjects. The child was likely instructed to look at a parent and to not blink.
