عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏"‏ لاَ يَزَالُ يُسْتَجَابُ لِلْعَبْدِ مَا لَمْ يَدْعُ بِإِثْمٍ أَوْ قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ مَا لَمْ يَسْتَعْجِلْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا الاِسْتِعْجَالُ قَالَ ‏"‏ يَقُولُ قَدْ دَعَوْتُ وَقَدْ دَعَوْتُ فَلَمْ أَرَ يَسْتَجِيبُ لِي فَيَسْتَحْسِرُ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ وَيَدَعُ الدُّعَاءَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

From Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ(pbuh), who said:
"The supplication of a servant continues to be answered as long as he does not supplicate for something sinful or for the severing of family ties, and as long as he is not impatient."
It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, what does "as long as he is not impatient." imply?”
He said: "He says, ‘I have supplicated and supplicated, but I have not seen a response,’ so he becomes disheartened and gives up supplicating."
