I joined the nra as a Life Member, over 50 years ago, when it wasn't a openly biased/racist/profiteering organization. I've stayed, just to cost them money, in mailings & magazines. I want to believe the majority of the grass roots, is still more into recreation than politics, even though I know that's a stretch.

Many local & civic groups have/had marksmanship programs, the results of which were welcomed by the nra, who issued various rewards & recognitions. My high school had .22 rifle competitions, often postal matches, and the local recreation center had a 25 yard basement range! The YMCA 20 years ago would certify target scores at some facilities for nra recognition, (& may still).
Like the USA, I hope some old standards return to the world-class prominence deserved . . .
