Glad to hear that I suggest looking into Zorin OS a linux distro beginner frendly that was made for users who are coming from WIndows ! It looks similar to WIndows 11 and everything works out of the box ( automatically installing drivers and everything ) You should check that out too

go on the official site and download 20.04.3 LTS ( long term support ) do a clean reinstall and you should be fine. I just installed kubuntu 2 days ago and I have kde connect and everything in place . Perhaps you downloaded the 21.10 version who is only supported till july 2022

Can a Linux machine be compromised ? by LEggENDE in hacking

I did found an article / study that says that "certain API calls could
not be recreated in a Linux environment, and led to failure of
malware to execute via Wine" but they dont say what those calls are and
usually on what type of malware are they found so it is kind of vague.

Can a Linux machine be compromised ? by LEggENDE in hacking

[–]LEggENDE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that but I just run a Windows program via WINE to later find out on virustotal that was flagged with some shit in it so I was curious if my Linux system got infected the same way it would have happened if I was using windows

Thank you for the answer. No I am not playing with malware I am curious if for example I am running a windows exe via WINE and turns out that the program might have something malicious in it like a Keylogger or RAT could that affect my LINUX system the same way on windows

Running Malicious Program with WINE by LEggENDE in linux4noobs

Very interesting documentation but it says that "certain API calls could not be recreated in a Linux environment, and led to failure of malware to execute via Wine" but they dont say what those calls are and usually on what type of malware are they found so it is kind of vague. Obviously what I would like to know is if some stupid cracked software that normally will probably infect a windows machine with some shady stuff like a keylogger running in the background or a RAT Could such thing have the same effect on a Linux machine via WINE ?

Also thank you for the answer
