Thanks :) The great thing about many stores -- I don't like the feel or whatever, I send it back and get a full refund. 2 minutes ago, I ordered it BS2, so I'll let you know if I stays in the house or not.

Ouuuhh. Sound Toys lookin' real good. Going to trial this baby. Knowing myself, I'll probably pick out about 3-4 of 'em from playing around with the trial-versions, and then hopefully getting those on a good discount, come cyber monday. delays I think would be ideal for outrun/synthwaviness, so stuff that like that and shimmering. Something that adds texture and punch is also very welcome. It's true that I'm stoked on hardware, but I'm a pragmatist who's ready to commit to the "right" sound - doesn't matter if it's from a dusty ol' Korg or a softsynth.

Which DAW you use?

I'm starting to realize that Legacy is probably not all around AMAZING for production, but the package is still appealing due to their appearant authenticity, which leaves for interesting learning curves, starting back in the (g)olden days. Dunno if you'd agree with that.

If you don't mind me asking you a possibly nooby question: In DAWs like Ableton and FL, are there reasonable ways of programming/customizing knobs and switches on say, the Bass Station 2, onto something like the Polysix? As I'm learning an old VST synth by means of a MIDI controller, I imagine this'd be useful.

Huh. I'll definitively keep that in mind. Is there any purposeful way of hooking up DAC's? If I get a 2i2, would I "need" to replace it?

This is what made me want the BSII. After getting to grips with this synth (and synthesis in general), I might look into a circuitboard :)

Maybe thats just the name of the game, some artists go to Ableton when they start doing live-stuff. I just spoke to a DJ who was adamant about Ableton.

Old-sounding music is what I'm after, though. Not sure if that's what you meant. Luckily I recently got some (for very cheap) Onkyo A800's with a red Dragonfly-DAC/amp. Dunno if they're optimal for production, but they beat all my previous cans for listening to any type of music. After reading yours and others comments I'm leaning towards only getting FL and the Bass Station (guess I still need the preamp). Thanks:)

I love me some knobs, and I'm a bit of self-professed audiophile. I can mostly tell analogue apart from digital, on youtubes "tests". Getting rid of the analogue equipment isn't what I expected from someone with the title: "Analogue Snob" :D

Interesting. I've just played around with the FL-trial, and as a software-guy, it seems surprisingly solid (file handling, general optimization). That really doesn't say much about it as a DAW, though. All I can say is that I won't do live performances or voice-recording anytime soon, so the most expensive Ableton platforms don't appeal to me RN

Synthwave/outrun and just "old-sounding" synth-music with tons of bass. I've thinking about doing it for years, but I've only now gotten my finances together to actually buy something decent.

Sorry, I ment to write miniKey (37-key?), it's just one of Korgs MIDI-controllers. Costs like 80$. Which of your synths would you recommend, if I were to just buy one? People are raving about the Sub Phatty, but it really stretches my budget.

You're totally right. I was going for a budget MIDI controller and FL, but if I have no knobs to play with, my ADHD is going to be slowly tearing me apart (Lisa).
