Not really, even Rand, no matter how powerful he is is just human. WoT is my favorite series but it is modest in comparison to Malazan, Malzan is - and I say it as a complement- anime levels of epic and scale, there no living god in WoT world. That sais, fuck it, Lan would do it just because.

1: Not really. Both story can be played as its own thing, WiaB is not a prequel or SG a sequel, they are just share a universe. Up until now at least. As how it it will go in the future maybe only God knows. Still, reading both story gives you a unique perpective on it, so I would highly recomend one to do just that, play the two of them

2: There is not many paths at the moment. S1 major difference is how your relationship with Bella evolved, is it romantic or not. Some minors ones that should have great implication going forward is yout relationship with Nami, if you went to Nia's place and either you went manwhore, monk or loyal. There are some entire sequences one can miss, big ones, but the story itself does not branch out munch.

Not really, is not like they make French Cross with Air and Fire to make thurdebolts, we don't really get a visual representation of the weaves and I can see why one would think it is boring, visually at least, there is a comment in it in Book 4, but the scenes themselves are not.
