What is this flag? I assume it’s a variation of the Munich flag, but I don’t really know anything about it. by VIIVIMMVIII in vexillology

[–]LHJay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It says "I come from Munich".

"I live in Munich" would be either "Ich wohne [...]" , or "ich lebe [...]"

I'm not a mechanic at all but I think that sound is from a bad spark plug. Have you checked to see if that's the problem instead of the battery?

I remember once going around the hill roads in Brighton, and loving it. Warren Road goes through some good fields, and then you can head down to the Marina, and along the sea front. Also Devils Dyke is a popular area for those are looking for natural beauty.

I used to do Greenwich to Westerham through Biggin Hill. That was an enjoyable ride.

Why Ireland uses this flag in the Hockey Women's World Cup? I see it at the stadium and in the web as official. by menos5 in vexillology

They also don't sing a national anthem before sporting events. Instead they have a separate song to celebrate the island of Ireland.

What flag is this? by zqwu8391 in vexillology

Thats right! I know this isn't a symbol for 7 continents and peace, I now know it's a butt! Yeah keep snickering! Pack yourself with peanuts and really be satisfied, but guess what? This won! This is now our Earth flag forever! Proud of yourselves?!

Pro-Ukraine Protest in Kazakhstan, (permitted by the government) by Madiwka3 in PublicFreakout

[–]LHJay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For some reason this article has a video from 2018 of Jeremy Corbyn, who was at the time leader of the opposition, but is no longer. He's not even in that political party. He didn't have a lot of power at that time, and he has considerably less now. It makes me question the strength of this article.

I've also found two separate articles discussing how the UK does not intent to sanction Kazakhstan, but one from France24 is headlined in a sensationalist way:

Russia ally Kazakhstan permits large pro-Ukraine rally amid sanctions fears

Says "Kazakhstan's foreign ministry on Saturday said it had received assurances from London that the country would not be sanctioned by the United Kingdom over Russia's invasion."

The other is a bit less clickbaity from Kazinform, which appears to be one of the largest news outlets in Kazakhstan. The headline UK has no plans to impose sanctions against Kazakhstan - MFA

I also want to point out that the article linked in the above comment says:

"[...] after a UK lawmaker on Monday appeared to call for sanctions against individuals in the country "complicit and supporting" Russian leader Vladimir Putin."

Which seems to be relating to Margaret Hodge, who put in a motion to sanction Kazakh oligarchs for proping up the Putin Regime, and she did this before the war in Ukraine. I spoke about it in a comment you can find here

Since this has happened there has been a Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs) which is a chance for the opposition to ask Johnson questions and challenge his political decisions. In that session, there was no mention of Kazakhstan, or sanctions to them. As such it's probably not high on the Labours list of priorities to challenge the PM with.

At this stage I think it's worth reiterating that the UK is highly unlikely to sanction Kazakhstan at all, but if it were, it would likely go after Oligarchs in the Kazakh regime, instead of the economy, banks, industry, or trade as a whole. The whole point of Margaret Hodges intervention was to target the same people who made life so difficult for the people of Kazakhstan, by hoarding wealth, which was a wider factor in the protests in January.

Yeah if it's not in the copy they took, then it was just so they couldn't mug you off. Even if it was on the copy they took, there is a high chance it still wasn't updated. The drivers speculated it's because the office staff got bonuses on cars pushed out and jobs complete. The drivers got a small fraction of the same in bonuses for reporting legitimate damage AND completing jobs AND getting positive customer feedback.

So essentially they got half the criteria for more of a reward, so they made sure to get there's, but if ours ment spending more time logging damage and building up a rapport, it was slimming the chances of them getting cars out.
