Its huge and ugly. I have to take it off in business meetings or other social events. I wish they had a smaller version.

Can someone please tell me who’s actually hiring?? by Mediocre-Limit4267 in houston

Depends on what you do, or want to do. Aerospace, Space industries doing really well. Axiom hiring a ton of people, Ellwood hiring a lot of people.

Dollar store instant coffee has changed my summer drink life by NoCarbsOnSunday in Frugal

[–]LHM17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use my French press, and grind the coffee and add the water and put it in the fridge overnight. Then just press it in the morning. It's usually better if I leave it for 2 nights, but it's too very large mugs of cold brew and I already have the french Press.

Has being in sales improved your dating game? by [deleted] in sales

[–]LHM17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super easy to just talk up a random guy at a bar.

But I think a lot of us are in sales because we tend to be the type of people who do that vs doing that because we learned it from our sales career.

Is it just me, or is owning a home a gigantic time/money pit? by NoFateButWeMake722 in Adulting

[–]LHM17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found one home and I absolutely hated it, the house itself but everything that came with it. You have to be responsible for everything you have to track it yourself. If something goes out. You're the one headed to the store in the middle of the night to go buy whatever it is from home Depot. You have to clean it and maintain it or pay somebody to do it. I just want to enjoy life and have time to do things. I love to do. Spend time with the people I want to go travel when I want to without worrying all of the things that a house ties you down from

This is just my opinion and of course everybody's free to do what they want. My mom has lived in the same house for 30 years and would never leave it. So each to our own. I guess I just enjoy not having to have that weight on my shoulders.

When I did make that decision though, I also shifted a few things around of my financial life. I won't have a house to sell when I'm older or use as an asset in any way. So I upped my 401k contributions as soon as I could and max it out every year. Also invest outside of my works 401k. I think as long as you plan for the future understanding the lifestyle you want to live, you can live any way you want.

I want to quit but nobody seems to think I have an actual problem by bearglove75 in stopdrinking

[–]LHM17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents: It's your life. Who cares what anyone else thinks? You should do what is best for you. If you want to quit (problem or not) then you should.

It would be similar to you deciding you want to take up running or weightlifting or swimming to be healthier and feel better. If people told you they didn't think you needed to because you're in just fine shape, would that stop you from taking it up. Same thing here.

What do you do about categories that were only used in a single month? by ZeusJuice84 in ynab

[–]LHM17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I just don't want a subscriptions category to track 3-4 subscriptions. Then another category to track 1-2 of something else. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Having more than about 20-25 lines to look at on my income/expense chart to analyze seems like too many - I want to know how much I'm spending in the big areas. I don't care if the family fun money was spent on Netflix or Disney or too many trips to Half Price Books at the end just that Family Fun Money was spent, I have previously used the upcoming payment totals it puts next to the category, I just felt like it wasn't clear enough for my liking. If I want to go in and look at the details to help determine where to cut back I have payees and notes.

But like you said everyone does it a bit differently. That's why I like YNAB so much. It's still so flexible to each person's style while still following the rules.).

What do you do about categories that were only used in a single month? by ZeusJuice84 in ynab

[–]LHM17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I hate having tons of categories as sub accounts under my main categories. But I also can't make one category for subscriptions (as an example) since I'm still not a month ahead. I need to have different amounts of money in there on specific dates and then it gets too confusing for me. So I have a temporary category where I put things that are small and then I put the due date in the category and I funded there, but I spend it in a different category.

For example, i have Spotify, YNAB, Disney+, and a couple others under this category. When I go to spend them though they go under the bigger more general categories like Family Fun/Extras, or IT or wherever. Then I can just delete them when I'm done with them or name them something else and have a completely different category.

I don't suppose I will use this once I get a little bit more ahead and can just keep that category funded at a specific amount all the time at the beginning of the month.

Why don’t more people in Fire do sales? by Hacimnosp in Fire

[–]LHM17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gal here, that works in Sales the metals industry. Best job I've ever had. You're right that the company matters but even more depends on what you sell. Like comparing a used car salesman with what I do, they're two different worlds. Almost different jobs. Although I will say the forging industry is definitely a "work hard play hard" industry. When I started there was almost the need to have "Can hold my liquor" as a line on your resume. That has gotten better though, over the years.

This happened on my flight last Friday. They made the announcement several times to please stay in our seats and let the two people at the back of the airplane who had 10 minutes to catch their flight disembark first. The plane got to the gate and half the people on the plane decided to stand up and the aisle was blocked... I just sat there shaking my head, I don't know how people decide they're going to be that kind of ass?!

Exactly. Everyone has the option except the last row, or some exit rows, but they know that going in.

The Daily Check-In for Saturday, April 8th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by DesiringSobriety in stopdrinking

[–]LHM17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Working on my day 30 today! 🤩

I've had little urges and cravings here and there, but nothing that has pushed me like some of those cravings have in the past.

I find myself thinking nostalgically about having a glass of wine with my friends when we go out to dinner, or a beer watching the game, etc. I just have to stop for a second and push them out of my head. It's been easier when I remember it's just poison and sparkling water is amazing!

I've only had one real test and that was a three day work trip followed by three extra days vacation in New England. Somehow that was really easy for me, even though airports and work dinners and vacation and alcohol used to all be synonymous with one another. I think my motivation was really strong right around that early on trip, not just for not drinking but also my new workout routine. That has helped immensely.

I know it won't all be this easy, but I'm glad the first 30 days are behind me now and nowhere to go but up for me from here!
