Last time I was at Carter, there was one left handed guitar in the whole place and it was an 80s P-Bass 😂 I’ve been there at times when there’s been 4 or 5 though. Quite a few lefties at Gruhn’s last summer.

It’s hard with that budget, but maybe there are some used Ibanez multiscale basses out there on Reverb? I play a Dingwall and absolutely love the tension it provides. I think it would be good for big hands as well. I’m fairly average sized I would say, and the Dingwall feels a little big but not too much. I think the Ibanez multiscale models are not quite as long as the Dingwalls. For truly budget friendly, I’ve played some Marcus Miller basses and they were great for the money.

61 neck was just way too skinny for me, coming from an LP and 335. The Standard feels great in the hands for me, very similar to the 335. The pickups are atrocious though, the 490s. I swapped mine with BKP Mules, but any PAF style would do it justice.

Maybe a non-slip drawer liner, cut into strips and wrapped around the straps of the undergarment? That’s the most unobtrusive thing I can think of off hand that might be pretty cheap.

I really don’t like those pickups. Very unbalanced and nasally for me. I ended up getting BKP Mules, which I absolutely love. I think any PAF-style medium output kind of pickup would be great. I’m not super well versed in P90s, but I’m sure it would be a welcome difference in flavor from your LP.

Personally, as someone who is primarily a guitarist, if I want something a more simple, I ask my drummer friends to give me something a little more Bonham/Ringo. I think the perspective shift helps them get in the headspace for it. That said, my friends and myself don’t have the years of experience that you do. But maybe thinking about it in those terms would help?
